Default travel space savers

Hi
I just went to Bed, Bath and Beyond and bought a package of 4 space saver bags for $11.00. They are the kind that you roll to get the air out so you don't need a vacuum.

I thought I would give them a try to see if they work and see if my clothes stay non wrinkled!

God Bless!

we don't cruise until December 6 on the Enchantment. It is our first cruise. Can you tell I am excited! I am a total planner and organizer so I am trying to think of things I can do now!

Any thoughts?

God Bless!

I have a whole BOX of space savers in my kitchen drawer and they only cost $3.00. They're called gallon size baggies - freezer variety. I've bought the space savers, too and baggies work just as well. I've been using them for years.

David,

I beg to differ. I've used space savers AND ziplocks and the ziplocks actually pack down smaller. You have to squeeze and squeeze to get all the air out, though.

I started using ziplocks when camping. If you're a camper you KNOW how space is at a premium. Ziplocks are a great, affordable alternative to space savers. Give 'em a try!

Dorothy,

Do you pack your clothes in the zip lock bags for traveling to the ship, or for dirty clothes afterward?

Are clothes wrinkled just a little or a lot. I am trying to avoid ironing.

I pack in ziplocks for travel to the ship AND for dirty clothes afterwards.

I took some downy wrinkle releaser to get out some of the packing wrinkles. You spray it on and the wrinkles come out nicely.

I have used space savers for three years and not just on cruises........they allow you too fit twice as much stuff in your suitcase and if you fold the clothes as you put them in they hardly ever wrinkle.

I think i have read on here somewhere that you can't bring an iron on the ship. Fire hazard. Anyway who wants to iron while on vacation?

I've found TWO gallon ziplocks at a Smart & Final store ( restaurant supply/food service type place) and they're great for packing clothes. I fold clothes then sit on bag as I'm sealing--that gets ALL the air out.... Our clothes were not wrinkled enough to matter & we really packed the suitcases. Box of 50 for about $10. Going on European Adventure river cruise end of May & can't wait to begin to pack...

We pack everything in ziplocks whenever we travel. If you fold your clothes very carefully there are no wrinkles. I like the 2.5 gallon Hefty brand. The only store I have been able to find them at is Target. Much cheaper then spacesavers. I hope this helps!

I've used those bags that you push all the air out of. They really work, but clothing gets v ery wrinkled.

I got some of the Space Bags at Costco recently. The ones that you use for home storage (attach the vacuum cleaner to remove the air) work great. I did a test run on the ones for travel and wasn't impressed. I took a linen shirt, put it in the Space Bag, rolled it up and left it over night. It was ALOT more wrinkled than if I had tightly packed it folded and flat in my suitcase. And even my husband commented that, honestly, it didn't seem like it rolled up any smaller in the bag than just rolling it period. I will take one - since I already have them - in case my bathing suit is damp at the end of the trip. Zip-lok bags are a great idea. I've used them forever for anything that might leak inflight and saved alot of clothes that way.
