Default Dressy pantsuit ok?

First time cruiser needing help with formal nights, please. I bought a pair of black pants. They have big flowing legs with a overlay that flows as well (it almost looks like a split skirt but longer). I paired it with a black fitted tank with a sheer-like jacket and silver strappy sandals. DH read the documents and is thinking I need a cocktail dress. Help what do I do? Thanks for your input.

I think that sounds PERFECT! You'll see everything probably from ballgowns(!) on down. I think your outfit sounds lovely and appropriate. Have a great time.

Many women on these boards swear by the outfit you've just described. When in doubt consider whether you'd wear the outfit to a dressy wedding. If the answer is yes, go for it.

Thanks, everyone, for your input. I also purchased a beaded top to wear one of the nights.

Thanks again.
