Default Formal Nights

Author: Dean D (---.client.comcast.net)

We will be on our first Alaskan cruise in July. Were doing the cruise and land tour via Princess cruise lines. If somebody would please provide us information with regard to clothing to bring for Alaska in July it will be appreciated.
As well, we are wondering about the "formal " dress the two nights on the cruise? How formal does formal need to be? I'm not really interested in wearing a tuxedo or suit....will a sport coat, slacks, shirt and tie work for those nights? How formal must the womens wear be to pass as "formal"?
And.....are there any "formal" requirements for the Princess Wilderness lodgers?
Thanks in advance for your information.

Dean

We just went on Carnival and my husband wore a sport coat, dress slacks, dress shirt and tie both formal nights and looked fine. I saw everything from tuxedos to shorts and t-shirts on formal night. Most of the men wore suits and most of the women wore cocktail/evening dresses. Hope this helps.

On Princess last year in Alaska, we saw more "good Sunday clothes" on formal night. There were some who were more formal, but we saw less dressiness on most passengers. DH wore a dark suit and fit right in. I wore my mother-of-the-bride dress one night and a knee length cocktail dress the other.

Dean- that sounds just fine. As for the ladies - a simple cocktail or holiday dress, dressy pantsuits or a dressy long dark skirt with a dressy/sparkly blouse will do just fine.
