I just asked my 2 daughters age 14 and 16 and they said " YES!" I would say let him be comfortable. Have a great cruise.

My daughters, 13 & 16, also say don't make him wear the suspenders. In their words "he'll look nerdy".

I agree with Roisin - with a jacket it MIGHT be okay, but with no jacket, please dont put the kid through that!!

I'm 15...and I wouldn't be so mean to laugh at him....but I'd probably find it very funny. Please don't put him through that....let him wear a dress belt.

This is one of the strangest posts I've seen on the message boards. Anyway, I agree with all the other posts stating that I would definetly not have him wear them. You want your son to have a good time and let him be himself. He's too old for you to be dressing him. I hope you have a wonderful cruise and be comfortable & Enjoy!

Happy Sailing!
29 more days till our cruise!!

Nope, don't do it !! (You weren't going to make him wear a bow tie too were you ??!!) matter of fact he can always eat at one of the informal spots and avoid the whole formal thing altogether, that's what my 12 yr old usually does.

Maybe if he is wearing just the suspenders it might look a little odd - but throw on a shirt and a pair of pants and he should look just fine - but that's just my weird and warped opinion lol. TTFN Jennifer

Actually that's where you're all wrong. lol maybe he can pull them off; some people really can. If he can, then noone will make fun of him...so if you think you can do it, I'd say go for it!

In the last 4 years, a lot of my daughters guy friends wore suspenders to their high schools formal dances. Some wore them with a jacket and tie, some with just the suspenders and tie. (Personally, I cringed when they didn't have a jacket for a formal dance.... But what could I say about it? They were my daughter's dates, not mine....)

That being said, however, I think it depends on how your son feels about it. If HE wants to wear them, he'll look good. If he is wearing them because YOU want him to wear them, then he'll be self conscious and won't feel comfortable.
