Default Irons...

I am going on my first cruise (royal caribbean grandeur of the seas) in January. I am the type of person who has to have ironed clothes at all times. Does the cruise ships supply irons at all?

Sorry, no there are no irons onboard, they are a fire hazard, but the do offer a laundry service. Also, when packing, put all your dresses in the plastic cleaner bags, help with the wrinkles. I do this all the time and I never have had to iron anything, but we also use a garment bag, so that helps a lot too.

Also, bring some Downey Wrinkle Release spray-- it really does help! Between that and packing my outfits each on a hanger in a plastic dry cleaning bag, I've never had to use my travel steamer.

If you have to have something pressed the valet service will do it for one half the cleaning price, i.e. suit $3.50, evening gown $4.00. Between dry cleaner bags and my steamer (swear by it), have never had to avail myself of the service. Cheers!

I thought that I read that there is an iron/ironing board in the laundry room on each deck.
I'm bringing the Downy Wrinkle Releaser, but I was hoping to have access to an iron in case something needed a nice sharp crease.

I believe HAL has a laundry room on every other deck with washer/dryers and irons available. I don't believe any cruise lines allow ironing in your cabin. There are a few things I don't pack for this reason.

It depends on what ship you are going on. Some have laundry rooms with washer/dryer and irons available for your use. If you check your cruise brochure, you can probably find a section that explains what laundry facilities are available on your ship.

FranD: What brand and model Steamer do you use? I am shopping around for one for my cruise. Thanks!

The Black & Decker travel iron/steamer works great. I also use the Downey Wrinkle Releaser when I don't feel like ironing.
