I work in a casual environment and do not have to dress up for work. I bought a few dresses for my cruise, and although they are not 'see through' , I noticed you can 'see light' through them when I try them on and looked in a full lengh mirror in bright daylight. Now, my Mom always made me wear slips with all dresses when I was young. I asked a few of my friends about slips and whether or not they wore them, and they laughed at me. They said "what is anyone going to see, the outline of your legs, big deal". They said women just dont wear slips anymore. So my question is, how many people wear slips?
I always wear a slip unless the skirt is lined. It's not just the see-through aspect. If I'm not wearing nylons or a slip, my skirt will stick when I sit down, expecially in hot and/or humid conditions.
Hey Jeleja, my suggestion is this.... make sure you don't have major panty lines I skip the slip only if I can get away without major panty lines. If I'm wearing white I try to make sure my panties don't show through, if they do I wear a slip.
I always wear slips. As a matter of fact, with thin skirts (of which I have several) I will usually wear two or three slips just to be sure everything is opaque. My suggestion would be to buy several slips and take them all along just so you have what you need... it's hard to find slips out in the middle of the ocean if you don't have them with you :-)
A slip always makes your dress "hang" better IMHO.

Most of my business skirts are thicker and wouldn't need a slip. My formal gown on the other hand (or is that leg?) is pretty thin and flashy. I think before I go, I'll put on my gown and walk outside. If my DH likes it too much, I'll wear a slip. <VBG>
Slips! Yuck! Haven't worn one since parochial school uniform in the 60's. My mom always sewed lined skirts and so I always bought good skirts with linings. Guaranteed to stay in place. But that's my honest opinion. Whatever makes you feel more comfortable, that's your call.
