Default Is first formal night the dressier one?

I've read on these posts that the first formal night is the dressier one.

I had assumed the Captain's Gala, which is usually the second formal night, to be the dressier one.

I'm very confused....can someone help me out?

Captain's Gala is the first formal night on Carnival ships so that's the dressier one.

I have found on both cruises so far that the first formal night has always been the dressier one.

How about on RC's Grandeur of the Seas? Which night is dressier?

The first one is usually dressier. The better tip is to wear your smaller / tighter clothes first. Otherwise you might not fit in them. ;-)

Enjoy.

the first formal night usually called the Captain's Gala Welcome Aboard Party is always the dressier of the two formal nights, doesn't matter what line.
