Default Shoes and how many is too many?

I am now debating on what shoes to take and how many different pairs I'll need. I love shoes and I like having different shoes for different outfits/different looks. Any help from shoe lovers would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks.

Take HALF of what you think you might need.

....Now.... if I could only listen to my own advice....

In all seriousness....I took shoes for every outfit, and ended up wearing the same black dressy strappy shoes several times because they were the most comfortable. And to be perfectly honest, do you really think that all those strangers on the ship will notice if you wear the same pair of shoes nore than once? THAT was my determining factor of going with the comfort over the style. They looked good and felt good, so why not wear them more than once?

I agree with Lauri, take about half, try to find a pair that will go with a few outfits, and limit the dress shoes to 2 pairs and match outfits to them, makes packing, lugging luggage that much easier. Don't forget also, the airlines do have a weight restrictions on checked luggage, and its rather expensive if you go over and have to pay.. Nice comfortable sandals are a must, may-be 2 pairs of those, at least they don't take up much space.

I so know what you two are saying, I know that comfort is key.
I guess I'm thinking capris need certain shoes, shorts need a certain look and then skirts need a certain shoe. Yikes. Then you need beach/pool shoes so you don't slip and slide on the deck. I sure wish I could send stuff to the ship and then send it home.
Now that would be cool.

Thanks.

I have this same dilema every time I go to Las Vegas. I think one pair of strappy heels will work for skirts, one pair of slip on tennis shoes or mules for capris and most shorts and then a pair of flip flops and you should be just fine.

Good luck!

I understand what you are saying about the different shoes for the different types of outfits. That was part of my problem, and I can't help ya with that...
Just remember....yes, the airlines have weight restrictions, but you are allowed TWO pieces of checked luggage per person.

I know...I know...that piece of information wasn't much help..... Just know that you are not alone in the shoe dilemma....

What makes it even worse the husbands just don't understand.
I think I have it down to six pairs, I'm hoping I can figure out how to cut that down by two, okay one. lol... Maybe I could go shopping for a pair of shoes that can go with more-yeah that's what I need to do, buy another pair of shoes. NOT.
I mostly wear black so it isn't a color problem, either. It's a style issue for sure.
Glad to know I'm pretty much normal... At least on this issue.
Have a good day.

i think that i have it down to a science. This is what i pack for shoes.
1. Wear your walking sneakers when you fly in/board the ship
2. 1 pair of flat white casual sandals - goes with shorts, capris, skirts, sundress, and pants
3. 1 pair of dressy white strappy sandals to go with dressier dressess/pants
4. 1 pair of very dressy black shoes or strappy sandals for formal nights
5. 1 pair of water shoes/sneakers or flip-flops
that's it ! .

I have:

1 pair of casual gold thongs (for ports, walking around the ship)
1 pair of dressy black high heels (to wear every night for dinner)
1 pair of tennis shoes (working out)

that's it...if I need more I will buy it.

Here's what I'm thinking

1. Brown casual sandals
2. tennis shoe slides
3. black strappy
4. flip flops
5. and what ever I need for my formals, at least one will work with the black strappy, but might need something for the other formal (Won't know til I but it )

The brown sandles or tennis shoe slide will be on my feet so I will only really be packing 3-4!!

Not so bad!

Thanks, I think I have it down to 6 pairs, for 10 days.
It's really the formal and smart casual evenings that create the need for more shoes, and then the at sea days.
I plan on just laying by the pool or on the beach all other times.

I ran into the same problem. But i love my shoes. I had a small luggage filled with shoes. People said I wouldnt wear them all but, surprisingly I did.

I had: 1pair of black stillitos for formal night
1 pair of clear shoes " "
6 pairs of flip-flops (to match all of my outfits)
2 pairs of sneakers (my workout shoes for the gym & crappy ones for the island)

I have to agree with Lisa K in her choices. I only wish I could stick to four pairs of shoes. Men have it so much easier.

If you don't do white sandals you can substitute a nude sandal instead. I found they go with everything.

I've got the Caribbean shoe dilema solved, but now I'm heading up to Canada/New England..... a whole new ballgame.

Shoes are always tough, especially for those of us who truly understand the need to own 9 pairs of black shoes. Heck, I own 5 pairs of purple shoes.

For the cruise I usually wear my sneakers to board b/c they are the most comfortable & heaviest so I don't want to carry them.

I bring:

1 pair casual sandals in a neutral color; I wear them to the pool, on the islands & w/ my non-formal outfits
1 pair water shoes
1 pair silver high heels that go with my formal & can dress up some of the un-between outfits

If my feet hurt from a long day in port, causal it is with subdued jewelry. If I'm up for a wilder night, out comes the jewelry & the high heels with an outfit.

Yes, it takes a bit of planning to select outfits that can be dressed up or down but I refuse to carry 8 pairs of shoes. I also despise the look of black shoes w/ everything. Hence, the 5 pairs of purple shoes in various shades (see above).

I have mine down to six pair. (I think)

Tennis Shoes (wear)
Gold Shoes (formal)
Silver Shoes (formal)
White strappy low heel (casual and informal)
White flat sandals (day wear)
Water shoes (water excursions)

I wish I could eliminate either the gold or silver and just take one pair for formal night. We will be on a 10 day cruise with 3 formal nights. But one driess has silver accents and the other is more suited to gold. Sigh.
