Default 2 way radios and gameboy

hoping you guys can help me with two questions: 1) for those that have used two way radios(the ones for around $30-50 at Walmart 2-3 mi range) on you r Disney cruise/trip did you have alot of problems with interference and did they really come in handy? I am thinking about buying a pair to use in Disney and on the cruise. 2) are gameboys allowed on airplanes in carry on bags? Thanks for your input

Tammy

Tammy:

My son took his gameboy with him on the plane. The only time he couldn't use it was during take off and landing. It makes keeping him entertained during the flight much easier. I usually buy him a new game and give it to him in the air.

We have the COBRA 5 mile range radios and they work great. Whichever ones you pick make sure they have lots of sub-channels as there are quite a few people on board using them. We bought the ones with the charging base so we didn't have to buy batteries.

sub-channels are key, there are so many people on the main channels, so much chatter that you either can't get thru to eachother or once you do get thru you can't hear the other person over the chatter.
GameBoys are fine.

FYI the we picked up a set or Motorolla radios with a charger base from Sams club for $59. They are like $75-$100 everywhere else. They are the 5 mile kind with a bunch of channels and privacy codes.

I'll have to give an after action report when we return from our cruise in a couple weeks.
