How do women manage in the washing of underwear and other items.. We are going to be on the Celebrity Century... I tend to overpack, but this is one time I'm lost...Thought about buying underwear and tossing as I went along.
plan on doing laundry,(especially underwear & socks) either self-service or use the ships laundry service. Look for laundry specials in the daily newsletter. Mix and match your separates, you can get 2-3 nights wear out of one skirt/trousers/capris with a different top each night. You can get 2 days wear out of one pair of shorts, plan on buying some cheap t-shirts on the islands to wear during the day either for a cover-up or over your shorts. Pack your underwear, socks & t-shirts in ziploc type bags, stuff them into the bags, squish out all the air and just toss them into a small corner of your suitcase. Only pack one pair of dressy heels/sandals, 1 pair of casual heels, loafers or sandals, 1 pair flat sandals, ,1 pair of water sandals/water shoes for excursions & hot beach sand. 3 bathing suits. Do pack enough medications ( either prescription or over-the -counter for the duration of your cruise). pack your formal clothes, shoes, sports jacket & suit in a separate garment bag.Wear your good walking sneakers when you board the ship, one less thing to pack.
This is going to sound really rude, but it works many ways around. Go through your underthing's drawer (socks too) and pull out all the needs-to-be-replaced items. Pack those! Wear them first and trash them when your done. This will give you extra room for souvenirs and less laundry to do.
If you really don't want to visit the ship's laundry or send them out, take some liquid laundry detergent with you and hand wash them.
We have taken several 2 week trips-and are always impeccably dressed..with a single normal 26 or 28 inch case each plus a carryon......just start out with a very organized pack list and think it thru--If you limit yourself to a color scheme of basic black, or tan or navy, it really limits the shoes. Just remember some good closed toe walking shoes--the open toes are not too good for different conditions, such as cobblestones. look like the locals. go to your favorite dept or specialty store and make a personal shopper appointment and get some wardrobe planning advice. the ship laundry service (hal) has always been super! plus, on the O they offer shoeshines!
