Rolling your clothes when you pack??

Just wondering if anyone out there rolls their clothes instead of folding them when they pack? If so, can I really get more stuff in my suitcase? Will my clothes be more wrinkled than if I just fold them? I have everything laid out that I want to pack but won't be packing until Wednesday night.

Thanks,
Lori

I rolled all of our clothes and put them in zip lock baggies according to outfits. Underwear socks pants shirt in one 2 gallon baggie. It made it very easy at the airport if they needed to search our bags. Nothing got messed up they just moved bags around. It was a great idea that I found on cruise mates.

I don't roll my clothes. I stand the suit case up on end and layer in 2 colums I find I get alot more clothes in less space, and wrinkles are or weren't a problem. We just got home from Florida 10 day stay and I didnt' need to iron anything. I got the idea from LLBEAN and thier catalog. Check it out.

You might also want to check out the packinglight method. They have a website and you create a 'bundle' out of your clothes that does not wrinkle if you pack them carefully.

Bundle meathod:
Lay your most-apt-to-wrinkle garment on a table or bed. Smooth out all the wrinkles. Gently lay your next-most-apt-to-wrinkle garment directly on top of it and gently remove any wrinkles. Continue doing this until you have everything in one pile (the top garment should be a sweatter, or jeans, or something like that). Fold the sleeves, legs, whatever, up over the bundle. Put the entire thing in your suitcase and pack under things, night clothes, etc. around it. The bundle is ungainly, but I've never had wrinkles. Unpack and fluff as soon as possible.

If you can, put the bundle in a clear plastic bag to expidite any necessary searches. I use a heavy, plastic, clear bag that I bought a blanket in years ago. Do not put anything hard or metal in the center and they usually leave the bundle unmolested.

Always put ANYTHING liquid in ziplock bags. Hang clothes in the bathroom when you take a shower if you feel they need steaming. Keep valuables and medications with you at all times.

what are you saying Haley?

Those of us with limited intellect and condemned to a life of mediocrity are confined to getting our kicks on the gripes board??

It was walking, you actually get more wet trying to run in the rain!

(I get let out of the gripes board for a few hours a day for good behaviour)

Laying plastic from the dry cleaners between layered packing also prevents wrinkles...hanging garments in a val pac, especially.

Hi! I find that when I roll my clothes they come out a little more wrinkled than when I fold them. What I usually do is fold each item and put a piece of tissue paper between the folds and in between each piece of clothing (Just like they do in stores). The tissue keeps the folds crisp, and even if it does need a bit of ironing, it is very minimal. If you are packing formal dresses, etc... I recommend a good material garment bag and cover each piece of clothing with a seperate dry cleaning bag. This also ensures less wrinkles, if any at all.
