Here is some good advice I could have used two weeks ago. Whatever you have just packed in your suitcase.... take half of it out. Our airline had an allowance two checked bags (70 lbs) and two carry ons... I only took one bag and one carry on. When leaving Alaska, they only allowed 50 lbs so of course guess who had to pay for a heavy bag. Whereever you go make sure you are aware of the bag allowance on the returning flight also cause it may not be the same as the airline you took to the cruise.. One more thing.... believe me.... you wont want to carry all the stuff around on your land tour!!!!Have a blast
My husband and I will be going on a Northbound Alaska Carnival Cruise in May 2006. We are going to TRY to only check two suitcases, so we'll have some room for things we plan to buy.
What is the weather like in Alaska in May?
Expect most of the inside passage, including Ketchikan and Juneau, to be cold (40's), raw, and rainy. Be sure to pack a few sweatshirts, a winter jacket that will keep you dry, gloves, and a hat if your winter jacket does not have a hood.
You have a pretty good chance of sunchine and milder temperatures (60's or low 70's) in Ketchikan, in Seward, and in Anchorage.
