Default Tuxedo Rental on Ship-An expensive convenience?

Does anyone know how much it will cost to rent a tux directly through the line? It would save me the trouble of having to rent one and packing it, etc.

I'd say $70-$100..............never rented one...but you should be able to find the price on the cruiseline site.....or in your book or docs......

Hi seattleguy37,

Here's the link to tux rentals:

http://www.hollandamerica.com/pdfs/m..._FactSheet.pdf

The info. is on page two.

I've read on these boards that you can buy a "suitable" tux at Penney's for a reasonable amount (just a little more than renting one). You might want to check that out if you think you'll be using one again.

I just checked Penney's to be sure the tux is still available as we purchased my husband's over a year ago. They still have them online, and carry some sizes in our local JC Penney. Reg. price is about $130 ( pants $30, Jacket $69.99, shirt set with cummerbund, bow tie, and pleated shirt $29.99). I believe they were running a sale when we purchased ours, so if you have time, watch for those 20-30% off postcards.

However, if you will never use a tux again, and you don't want the trouble of packing it, you may prefer the convenience of renting on board.

Good luck and have fun!

Whether or not you take a Tux or suit, consider having it cleaned and pressed on the ship. We have done this the last few cruises and it saves the hassle of trying to pack it and arrive wrinkle free. We always get it back in time for our 1st formal night and all for $8!

seattleguy37,

Does anyone know how much it will cost to rent a tux directly through the line?

The ships' prices are pretty reasonable. You might pay about $10 less to rent the same outfit on a "cruise package" (meaning that you are taking it for a whole week and getting two shirts, a vest with matching tie, and a cummerbund with matching tie to give you different "looks" for the two formal evenings) from a shop ashore.

BTW, the package generally is less expensive than the sum of the rental of individual pieces.

Norm.

YOU CAN RENT ONE FOR AROUND $85.00, BUT A NICE SUIT AND TIE WORKS GREAT AND YOU CAN WEAR IT AGAIN LATER. BUT I THINK I WILL CRUISE AGAIN SOON-SO AFTER JUST THREE RENTALS ON A CRUISE YOU CAN BUY ONE FOR YOURSELF WHENEVER YOU WANT IT....OH YEA JUST CARRY YOUR SUIT ON IN A HANG UP BAG. REMEMBER THE TIME THE BOAT LEAVES AND BOARD 30 MINUTES PRIOR..YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO WALK INTO YOUR STATEROOM..DROP IT OFF AND GO HAVE A COLD ONE.

I have used this company on two HAL cruises with no problems:

http://www.cruiselineformal.com/

One reason is it does reduce the amount of luggage space I need to worry about AND I seem to be experiencing a growth spurt in my dottage and each year I seem to larger size.

I have ordered a tux through this web site for our cruise in July on the Golden Princess. I did this about 4 weeks again and have not received any confirmation. I sent an email two weeks again requesting a confirmation of the booking, still nothing. Should I be concerned or is this normal and the Tux will arrive at our stateroom as expected. I am reluctant to ring them as we are from Australia and this would be expensive. Thanks Gina

Shifty

cruiselineformal.com is the official site for Princess formal wear rental. You should have no problem ordering from them but you should have received an acknowlegement from them. Has your credit card been charged? A phone call may be worth it just for the peace of mind.

Take care,
Mike
