Default HAL - Formal night - sport jacket?

We're taking the 12/06 HAL cruise to the Eastern Carribean.

On Princess and Celebrity Formal nights, my husband wore a tux. The HAL literature says that although most men will wear a tux/business suit, jackets and ties are fine as well.

He''s planning on only taking a sport jacket and a dress shirt to wear with dockers.

If he doesn't care, will anyone else?

oh boy that could be a tough one. We have been hearing that HAL is one of the lines that is enforcing the dress code. I would say pack the tux or the suit just to be on the safe side.

I got this info from the HAL website:
" (Gentlemen: Although business suits or tuxedos are suggested attire for formal evenings, they are certainly not required. You are welcome to wear a jacket and tie on formal nights.) "

My husband read it and and told my 19 year old that they both didn't need suits...Am I still better off trying to convince him?

yea, I think I'd try to convince them to pack the suits. Better safe than sorry.

JLH - after reading what you posted from HAL, i would say that at the least your guys could get away with a dark sports jacket, dress shirt/tie, dress pants (not dockers) and dress shoes.
