what exactly is "resort casual"

formal is formal i feel confident in knowing how to pick out clothes for those nights... but what exactly is this "resort casual" thing?

so i figured no jeans and no t-shirts... is it basically just "looking nice" without much effort? i figured if it was something you would wear to make a decent impression on a (mid-price restaurant) dinner date that would be safe...

would my boyfriend's standard dinner attire of short sleeve button up shirt and dickies pants be appropriate? he looks handsome to me but maybe this isn't considered much better than jeans and t-shirt by some? dunno...

For evening attire, the term "resort casual" generally means a shirt with a collar and slacks, worn with dress shoes, for gents and a top with a skirt or slacks, worn with dressy soes, for ladies. You probably will see some folks wearing khakis, rather than slacks or skirts, though slacks or skirts really are more appropriate.

I was told to get sun dresses for dinner and the would be resort casual. If your like me and have to go buy dress clothes for this, target online has some great sun dress for a cheap price. And they are OOHHHH so comfortable, Carla

megs, the vast majority of men will be wearing dockers type casual pants with either a polo, button down or hawaiian print shirt and a loafer or boat shoe type shoe. For us ladies, i wear sun or sheath dress with low-heeled sandals or kitten heels, a nice pair of capris with a pretty blouse or a nice pair of trousers with a blouse.
