I have skirts which are paired with dressy tanks, but I read somewhere tank tops are not allowed in the dining room, would that apply to those types or just the casual ones? Please help!!!
A dressy tank would definitely be fine in the dining room. I have worn a few on past cruises, but the dining rooms are usually a bit chilly and you may want to take a light sweater/jacket with you!! Hope you have a great cruise

Hmmm....
As a veteran of 22 cruises, I don't ever recall seeing anything saying that tank tops are not allowed in the dining room. They certainly would be acceptable on "casual" evenings and, if dressy, on "informal" evenings. You might even be able to pair a really fancy tank top with a matching full length skirt for "formal" evenings.
That said, the point about dining rooms on some ships being chilly is accurate so be sure to bring something to keep your shoulders warm.
the no-tank tops in the dining room during dinner hours refers to the ultra-casual tanks tops that you would wear during the day with your shorts or swimsuit. Dressy tanks of silk, shimmery fabrics, tanks with beading, sparkle or lace can be worn under a suit to make a beautiful semi-formal or even formal outfit.
I recommend beaded bra straps that I just bought from http://www.mybrastrap.com. These straps helped me jazz up any sleeveless or spaghetti strap top. Simple shoulder jewelry did the trick for fashionable cruising.

I really think they are referring to MEN in tank tops with the hairy armpits, etc. - not very nice at dinner. However, as someone pointed out, the dining rooms can get pretty cold - I'd bring a sweater or wrap just in case (I hate being cold).

What are you talking about? I love looking at MEN with hairy armpits while Im eating dinner! ITs hot!
"dressy tank"--now that's a real oxymoron...sort of like, "clean swamp".
