Default Ever Order A Formal Dress On-Line

I'm desperate!!! I can't find a dress for formal night to fit and we leave in less than 2 weeks... and don't have time to get back to the Mall... I've looked at JC Penney and Macys... What websites have you purchased a dress on? Thnx....

First, take your finger off the panic button.

Now, go to your closet and figure out which dress you would wear if you had to go to a wake tonight or a funeral first thing tomorrow morning.

Or if that does not work, figure out what you would wear if your boss were to ask you to come to dinner at a fancy restaurant with an important client on short notice.

Chances are that it will be suitable for the "formal" evenings on your cruise.

Norm.

oh my gosh there are so many to choose from.
Chadwicks.com has some very nice and not to pricey items.
Talbots.com - classic styling, a bit more expensive but worth it.
Nordstroms.com - great sales
Spiegel.com -
Barriepace.com - gorgeous clothes, a bit on the pricey side, but they have great sales.
Bluefly.com- designer clothes at discount prices
pay the extra for express delivery.

Actually, my friends who are professional seamstresses tells me that Victoria's Secret also has great dresses, some of which would be suitable for "formal" evenings.

You have received great advice here in that first reply someone wrote you. You probably have something you can wear in your closet and don't realize it. They are so right something you wear to a funeral, or a dinner out will do just fine. For my third cruise I gained to much weight so I had to buy another dress other than that reason I would have worn the same one I wore two years ago or I would have gotten a skirt out of my closet and a fancy blouse and I would have have my formal outfit. I have learned from great people with lots experience on this site you do not have to spend a lot of money to go on a cruise.

First take a deep breath and relax... no problem.

You didn't state your age, but there are tricks to the trade for all age groups. You also didn't mention which cruise line... each has it's own unwritten guide line.

Unless you are on one of the super high end ones, there shouldn't be a problem.

If you are on the younger side (less than 40), you can get buy with a nice tea length, short party, or even the classic black dress. The trick is to accessorize it out to the 9s, have that hair done, and dress those nails, and buy a cute pair of shoes. If you feel formal you will look formal.

The middle age group (40 to 65), can always go with the classic looks. Heck one time I even wore my 'mother of the bride' dress. As with our younger counterparts, the accessories will make the difference.

The mature group (65+) will even were an nice paints suit on formal night.

Unless you have a perfect figure for off the rack dresses, online won't help much. You will still need to have it altered. If you have a local bridal shop, check their dresses. Many times they have some nice dresses for family members. Check with your friends, just maybe one of them has a dress you can borrow.

Also don't forget that most of the ships carry nice beaded jackets for women. Simple black dress, and buy one of their jackets.

How about TJ Max and Ross? They have lots of great formal dresses for not a lot of money. The selection isn't too bad either.
