Default Rolling Duffles

Hi Everyone,

Are rolling duffle bags ok to pack in or should I pack in a regular suitcase?

Thanks!
Jo

I guess if you don't mind ironing or a few wrinkles... sounds good to me.

I used a rolling duffel because I could maneuver it better for my size (5' 3") than a suitcase that can hold the same square footage. I just made sure to pack delicate souvenirs in my carry-on. Carla

Thanks for all your responses! This is my 1st cruise and I am so nervous that I am going to overpack and go over the limit! I am an overpacker but I am going to try and be good ....

What about a carryon? I have a smaller rolling duffle... can I use that? Do they have special rules of what you can carry on ??

I love rolling duffles I can fit more in them then a normal suitcase...

I always take a carry-on. I pack all things in there that I absolutely do not want to lose as well as changes of clothes and a swim suit. Your big bag may not get to your cabin until later in the afternoon or evening.

Also keep in mind that the last night, you will be asked to put your large luggage outside your cabin before you go to sleep. It takes some time for them to collect everyone's luggage, and they put it in the hold, where it can be offloaded to the dock in the morning....where the drug dogs go around and sniff out any smuggled drugs. Anyway, you will need a carry on to keep with you for that last night's stuff, plus any fragile stuff you buy along the way.
I bought an expandable rolling bag from Carnival some years ago and I love it. I pack my valuables in it to carry on, then expand it to the max for getting off the ship at the end.
Don't freak out. The rule of thumb is take half the clothes and twice the money you think you need. Now, I don't have twice the money to throw around, but the half the clothes really does apply for me. Have fun!

We used a carryon duffle for our tea and water last time.

25 inch roller should be fine. Relax and enjoy yourself...

I use a rolling duffle for all my travels. I have 1 that has a separate compartment on the bottom which allows me to fold flat a lot of clothes without crushing just like a suitcase. I can put the more scrunchable items in the top and flat fold items in the bottome. It is a 30 inch size. I got it at Costco for $30. BJ's had them also for same price or you can buy online just doing a "rolling duffle" search. Model brand is Ricardo.

I use a separate smaller roller that will go through the scanners as my carryon for at least 1 change of clothes, personal items and water/sodas.

Default Roller Duffles

We use them for diving. Only problem with them is that there is not the rigid structure of a suitcase to help transfer and absorb shock. Ours were dropped by air cargo handlers and the shock transferred to the bottom plate and wheels breaking where the wheels were held. These were high quality dive roller duffles. My advice is to use them packed lightly with no fragile objects inside, even if wrapped.
