White Shoes the End of September?

OK...need some advice from all the ladies. What's proper shoe etiquette for a Bahamas Cruise the end of September? Is it okay to wear white shoes? I purchased a gorgeous royal blue and white dress, and the only shoes that will look good with it are white strappy sandals with a heel (which I bought on sale today!). I am real anal about NEVER wearing white before Easter or after Labor Day (I grew up in the north), do you think I can get away with white shoes on a cruise? Or are people going to be pointing at my feet and whispering?

I belive its "OK" to wear white anything all year around in the Caribbean, and I would include the Bahamas. Go for it and wear white, I always do and see many others, you won't be alone.

I agree with Donna; there is no rule for white in the Carribbean; much less Southwest Florida for that matter.

I wear white shoes myself... of course, they are white canvas deck shoes...

I would wear white shoes at any time in the Caribbean.
I would not wear them in South Florida [east coast] after Labor Day and before Memorial Day!

Even my 92 yo mother agrees that the no white after labor day rule died years ago.

Well, let her wear white shoes whenever she wants then!

I just put away the white shoes in September, b/c it's fall [almost] and I have much more interseting footwear for the cooler months.
White is just too stark when it's not summer.

I put away my white capris, white jeans, white slacks and white skirts too.
White is for summer.

I think they'll be perfect and considering it was almost 90 here in NJ today and everyone is still wearing shorts and sandals because of how hot our fall has been, you're fine! I think the Labor Day etiquette thing went right out the window this fall, north of D.C. to whatever point it's actually cold in...

I think it's ok to wear white ones, but if you are uncomfortable about it, just wear beige with beige pantyhose. I bought a royal blur dress for my cruise coming up in November and I bought silver sparkle shoes to wear with it. I believe anything goes on vacation!

Ok, so I'm a dummy. But who on this little blue planet made up such a silly rule about no white shoes after Labor Day?

I understand tradition and all but honestly, the style gerbils who thought that one up need somthing better to do with all of their free time.

Wear white when ever you care to. It won't bother anyone under the age of 120.

And people over the age of 120 probably can't see what color shoes you are wearing!
