The ship provides beach towels for you. No question is dumb.. Have a fantastic cruise.

If any of the shore excursions include trips to the beach you just sign out the towels and return them when you get back on the ship.

Just be sure that you do return them to the ship, as they charge a lot more than you might expect if you lose one!

Does anyone know if that is true with Carnival as well?

Most assuredly. It's pretty much standard practice in the industry.

Carnival's beach towels are nice and big and great on the ship. As stated before, if you don't return them, you will be charged. I don't carry them ashore myself since I have often seen them left on the beach and because they so HEAVY once they are wet. I just pack a lighter weight beach towel to take with me. I buy the $4 ones from WallyWorld and they are rolled up so they are easy to pack and cheap. If I decide I don't want to carry around a wet towel the rest of the day, I just trash it.

If you sail on a Cozumel bound ship - don't worry if you lose your Carnival beach towel. You can buy one from the vendors just outside the Mall at the port for a lot less than the $22 Carnival charges.
Don't know if they are cheap "knock offs" or if they're just ones that other tourists left behind. I didn't inspect them that closely.
Someone else remarked on how heavy they are and that is the absolute truth. I packed our own thin ones both cruises - 1. because they cost a lot less than $22 to replace if lost on an excursion and 2. they're easier to carry around when wet.
We used the Carnival ones from the towel desk on the Lido deck each time we went to the pool and never touched the ones in our room.

On our first day on the ship, I just take the Carnival Beach towels and put them in the top of the closet or store them under the sofa area. I then put them back on the last night.

No sense in packing your own just to take up room...heaven knows you'll be packing enough anyway!

Just don't lose the towels they provide you...they are not cheap...

Have a great cruise!
