Default Keeping track of each other

First cruise is almost here. My husband and I plan to go separate ways on ship occasionally. How do you all keep up with each other without cell phone usage? Do you recommend walkie talkies as some have mentioned? Or is that a waste of money?

Thanks for sharing your tips.

Some people do want to keep track pf each other. My DH and I prefer to be more independent. We will agree to meet up at a time and place, for a particular activity or meal, but otherwise, we just go our own ways. I realize that we are different. We are together pretty much 24/7 and my health problems mean that he rarely has the luxury of just "forgetting" about me even for a few hours. And, I hate being dependent, so part of the cruise experience for us is being able to break out of that pattern.
We did buy walkie talkies for one cruise and ended up not using them at all. Plus, they are pretty bulky to haul around.
Just my 2 cents.

some people leave sticky notes on the cabin door as a way to "keep up". We picked a time and location while on board to meet then either hang out or go our separate way again.

We know each other's favorite places on the ship, so that's where we look first. 99% of the time I can find him near the pizza!

We don't bother with walkie talkies or sticky notes. Only once did I have a hard time finding him...he was back in the cabin taking a nap.

Default He'll turn up

He'll turn up, I guarantee, after all how far can he go?

From someone who in 40+ years and many grand travel adventures hasn't yet managed to lose him.

my husband and me took walkies on our first cruise together last fall, they're invaluable, proved even more invaluable with a girls' trip of six in May and we will definitely use them for our triumph trip 10/13....we're ov and our friends are mini-suite.... they're even more invaluable when you're on your excursions....

Wow, I would stay with my SO and she would stay with me. The cruise should be experienced together.

Default Cruises - not just a vacation but a respite

Believe me we are together. We have had our challenges to the point we obtained temporary custody of our granddaughter, now two...That's teamwork. There are a lot of other parents who would not have endured or done what we have. Our cruises are true vacations/respites, at 50 and 51 respectively, and 30 years of marriage this coming February, our cruise this coming Saturday, with friends from Chicago, will be our last alone after being able to enjoy just three previous vacations without kids. DH and me respect each other's space and you come to know one another to the point where you know there are certain times of the day that you need for yourself, even when cruising, not to mention there are some cruise things that I'm not going to torment my dh with such as bingo or the towelmaking class and vice versa when he wants to watch a race or game come Sunday. My mother (and my brothers and sister) came through the unexpected death of my dad, after just celebrating their 30th anniversary and just before the birth of their first grandchild, because she did have outside interests and friends and family to get her through. My parents were very much in love but never attached at the hip.

Hence my reason for taking the walkies.... Kudos to Carnival for Camp Carnival too...

By the way, we absolutely do our excursions together, we like to snorkel...

I have found that with all the people taking walkie's, that you get a lot of extra noise and calls that you don't are for other people. How many channels do your walkie's have?

Default walkie talkies

I think we have decided to get them after all. We feel like it will be worth having them if we need them now or later. We probably will spend most of the time together, definitely on the excursions, but we just don't want the added stress of worrying about it. My husband is researching which ones look best.

We have a group of 19, 5 of them teenagers and we plan to take walkie talkies for the kids to keep with them, otherwise, I'm sure we'd never find them! They'll be running in the opposite direction all the time! .
But, we have decided to have designated times & places throughout the day, just to check in with each other.

walkie talkies are fun, especially on a large shi[
otherwise just leave notes on your room door of when and where you plan to me or when you will be back to the room
