Are certain cruise lines formal night more formal than other
We are going on a cruise in October with Crown Princess. When I told a coworker that I was looking for a long formal gown for formal night, she said what cruise line are you going on, when we went i just wore a dress. Is certain cruise lines more formal than others? Or am I being to formal? I thought I would look for a long formal gown, like prom. Am I incorrect. I don't want to look out of place!

Some cruise lines are more formal then others. Celebrity is more formal then Carnival. Princess is a dressier line you will fit in with a long gown. Even on the less formal line you can still wear a long gown and fit it. Also the ports of the cruise have something to do with it. A European cruise is dressier then a Mexican cruise. Alaskan is a dressier cruise then the Caribbean cruise. I hope that helps.

Yes, some cruise lines definitely are dressier than others. Of the major cruise lines, Celebrity Cruises probably is the most dressy and Carnival Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Line probably are the least dressy, with Holland America Lines, Princess Cruises, and Royal Caribbean International falling somewhere in between. Nonetheless, a I doubt that you would feel out of place wearing a long formal gown on a "formal" or "elegant" evening on any of the major lines.
