"Closed-toe shoes" requirement

Does any one know if the Keen's sandal type footwear with the big rubber part over the toe works as "Closed-toe shoes"? Thanks for the help.

Is this shoe requirement for some type of an excursion, if so what one?

The specify closed toe shoes (ie running shoes or sneakers) because you might be walking thru a lot of mud or debris that can hurt .This basically
for your protection not to get hurt.

I've been on tours that specified closed toe shoes. People still worn sandals

and their feet were filthy after and some where badly cut.

I have seen it on a lot of different ones including one where you are riding an ATV. I kinda thought that was the answer and it makes sense. Thank you
