Jeans in dining room...and packing pop/soda...?

I'm going on a cruise to Alaska on the Serenade of the Seas and I'm wondering if I'm aloud to wear jeans to the dining room at dinner? The formal/casual stuff confuses me haha. And also are you aloud to bring pop in your carryon when you get on the ship? We don't want to buy a soda card because they're expensive and not worth it.

We always bring a 12 pack of Pepsi in our carry on, no problems. We drink them for lunch in the Windjammer and have been offered $ for one a couple of times!! We wore jeans in the dining room on our Alaska cruise a couple of nights. One night they had a theme night; Klondike Kountry. The other night we were in port late and it was open seating. Many even wore shorts.

I bring soda on, but I put it in my regular luggage. So I don't know about putting it in my carry on. Also my experience is you can wear jeans in the dining room, but nice ones. But don't wear jeans on formal night!
