I have some creme based stage makeup I wish to take with me on my cruise for a costume on Halloween so I was wondering if anyone knows how airport security deals with this in carry ons now?
Check on the airlines website to see how many ounces it can be, around 3 ounces, then put it in a quart ziplock bag and put it in the tray so they can see it. Don't take the chance of them taking it away. I did this with my foundation with no problem.

Put it in your checked baggage... all the 3 oz is for carry-on. You can have 20 tubes in your checked baggage.

Well, these are small little pots. The pencils are not a problem, just the stuff in the pots(which run around $15 each and are expensive to replace). I will check on how big they are though.

I agree with the recommendation to put make-up and cosmetics in your checked luggage, which has no restrictions. But if you must take liquids and gels in your carry-on bags, the TSA rule is 3-1-1.
>> 1. Individual containers must be THREE (3) fluid ounces or less. It's the size of the container, not the amount of liquid in it, that matters, so a 6-oz. container that's half full is NOT allowed.
>> 2. ALL of your containers must fit into ONE (1) resealable clear plastic bag (zip-lok, etc., are fine) with a capacity of ONE (1) quart or less. Put the plastic bag on top of everything else or in a side pocket in the larger bag, where it's accessible, because...
>> 3. When you get to the security checkpoint at the airport, you must remove the plastic bag containing your liquids from your luggage and place it in a bin for scanning. You may return it to your luggage when you complete the screening process.
I assume you realize that my stage makeup is worth twice as much as my Fossil Sunglasses(which I paid $60 for).
This doesn't surprise me. I have seen the type of make up that professional make up artists carry and you wouldn't get that stuff at Macys. I'm licensed Cosmetologist in California. Hair shows that I have attend had classes like Make up for TV and film.
Which makes me wonder is your makeup a liquid? I would think the make up would be a cream or pancake type of makeup. I'm not sure if that changes the TSA requirements.
