We used to start out with drinks at the Lemon Bar...eat dinner at a different place each night...and finish at a pool hall called Al's (I think).
Where is Atlantic Beach is it in JAX?
It is actually about a ten minute drive to the east on 109. Follow the signs to MayPort Naval Station.
There are actually three (3) areas...Atlantic, Neptune and Jacksonville Beaches.
109 dumps you right on the main beach road.
Just hang a left and go north about 2 miles. When the road ends, Atlantic Beach is on the right.

Atlantic is the better of the three???

sounds like an easy drive on 109 east.

CQ,
Atlantic Beach is the best by far.
Everything is within walking distance. When you park in the lot (there are many spots around there that are free but it is hard to explain) just walk to the beach on the right side. All the way at the end is the Lemon Bar. You can watch the waves as you enjoy a drink.
On the north side is a restaurant that serves their own microbrew. You can see the kettles through the window.

There are a few hotels there but they are pricey. In July (off season) rooms averaged about 250.00.

I screwed up. Take 113 which turns into 10 and puts you at the beach.
You can also take 105 (not 109) to Mayport. This will put you at the terminal for the gambling ships....and a couple blocks from the beach.
