Happy New Year everyone!!!!

Health, Family, Friends, Happiness, Work and Cruising for 2010!!!!!

Well we are all booked on Celebrity Summit for June. I hope we don't go overboard because there is nothing to do onboard.

It's an extended family cruise so it will be fun no matter what ship we are on. Mom and Dad celebrating 50th years!!
Since Mom and Dad are Celebrity Fans, Love Bermuda and hate to fly it was a no brainer to book Celebrity Summit.

Kat I posted some pictures on my Oasis Royal thread. With the snow coming down today it is a perfect day to work on getting my pictures on FB up to date.

Have a great day everyone!!!!

CQ - Congrats to your parents on the upcoming 50th! It will be fun to take an extended family cruise like that. You can take the party with you where ever you go.

Happy New year everyone. Cruises with family are fun and a headache at the same time, Since my cruise was Alaska and very port heavy maybe that is way they did less activites. Alaksan cruises get the older crowd anyway. you have to try the thalassotherapy pool it's very relaxing.

I agree Kat Cruising with family is fun and a headache at the same time!

Mom is the type to make plans and expect everyone else to follow. :o
Dad is laid back and a "whatever" type of cruiser.

We have 5 cabins booked so there is no turning back now.

It's a 7 niter with 2 days at Bermuda and 1 stop at Rhode Island the rest at sea.
We thought it was strange to have a stop in Rhode Island before heading to Bermuda.

And Bob you are so right!!!! It may not be Royal but I'll take the party with me. If the ship is quite I will be the one to start a poolside Conga Line....

Hi gang

Happy new year to all of you.

We are enjoying Palm Coast Fl. and looking forward to tonight's party.

CQ, congratulations on booking the Summit. I am sure that it will be great for a family cruise. Like Bob said you will will make fun even if it's slower pace than Royal.

Last time we sailed on Celebrity we allways found plenty of fun. Most evenings we were up past 2AM.

CQ, I have a designated driver (Mrs. TM ) , and we are staying only a few minutes away from the Palm coasr Portugueses club so I can drink and still be safe.

I want all the gang members to stay safe as well. We are few but we are the best.

Have a great evening everyone.

Happy New Year Everyone,

Kat, it looks like you may have to coordinate a double virtual. The DW and I chose our next cruise last night - also in June. This will be our first hop across the pond, so the next step is to dig up a travel agent that knows Europe, especially for setting us up pre and post-cruise. We are going to go with Princes (at least that is the plan) and they have some sort of certified TA designation, we'll probably start there.

Off to the parade.

Congrats on the cruise Bob!! My sister just did the Ruby Princess Europe with excellent ports and she loved Ruby.
Kat is a pro with virtuals so two going at the same time is not an issue for her!

Happy 1st day of the year Kids!!!

I love double virtual cruises it's fun to be two places at once. Where is Europe are you planning to go. I have a few tricks for Italy and I have family in Funchal Madeira Island. Here is a video I made with pictures my hubby took from our 2008 cruise. The music is in the Fado style so people think it's sad music. I like the because it has emotion. Plus at age 18 I saw the Fado live in Lisbon and they were amazing. If you see a cruise with overnight in Lisbon think about booking that so you can see the Fados.
YouTube - Madeira Island

The Hubby got a new camera for Christmas and I'm already loving his new pictures. This bird was on a tree branch in front of our house. He is chasing the sunset with his camera right now. He got a Canon Rebel XSI with a occipital zoom lens. This bird is a Raiders fan you can tell by the colors of his head.;-)

Hi gang

I see there will be plenty of last gang cruises coming up.

We spent most of the day checking out the Palm Coast area, after a late start because we were at the new year's eve party till 3 AM.

We will be visiting friends in Punta Gorda tomorrow.

Kat - thanks for the head's up on the football poll. The video of Madera is very nice. I'm not familiar with Fado, but it sounds very mellow, I can almost hear a sense of longing or desire there, but I don't know what she is singing.

We'd appreciated any tips on Italy. I think I remember that you did the train from Rome to Venice. Here is our planned itinerary Princess Cruises : Greek Isles - Venice to Rome : Details & Availability
We'd like to spend a little time in Italy before/after the cruise whichever makes the most sense. This is were the TA gets to earn their commision.

Venice and Rome I know the rest I don't. So I will gave the tips on Venice and Rome. Do you have a hotel for Venice? How are you planning on getting to the hotel from the airport? On this thread I talk about the Venice Connected card and the Alilaguna (airport boat). I also talk about the hotel I stayed at. The service was wonderful, however, it's not fancy hotel on the grand canal. It is near the Ferrovia (the water bus stop) with our Venice connected card we had unlimited water bus access and were able to visit Murano.
http://www.cruisemates.com/forum/eur...barcelona.html

My advice with Rome is Metro and Hop on Hop off bus. We took the metro to the tervi fountain (sp?), and the train station. At the train station you can pick up the hop on hop off bus. Because we were in Rome on Satuday stayed Sunday and left for Venice early morning Monday. We weren't able to book the vatican tour directly through the Vatican. So we used a Skip the line tour (tour companies pay the Vatican 6000 euros to skip the line) we book that with my vatican tours. The tour guide was America studying art in Rome. She knew her stuff. We had headphone to hear her I was very pleased with the tour. Our tour was at 2:30PM so we had enough time to get in from Civitavecchia (this is about 1 1/2 hours from Rome) before the tour started.

However, you can book the Vatican tour directly from the Vatican. But you still need a way to get from port to Rome. Here is the link Ticket Office online of the Vatican Museums
The Archeological Visits are only available through the Vatican I heard they are wonderful. But not good if you are nervous in close spaces.

Since you end in Civitavecchia you need a car to get you into Rome. We booked a transfer with had a big bus and had a bunch of people on it (about 30) we stopped from hotel to hotel. It sucked don't do that. They lost one of our bags. I would look into the cost of a private car. Trust me it's worth the money. You could also take the train from Civitavecchia to Rome. Sometimes there are train strikes so have a back up plan.

I hope that helps you. I loved Venice and have the Venice Connected card was great we were able to explore the city on our own. Oh we didn't book anything with a TA I was the one that did all the research. I didn't like our Rome Hotel so I won't reccommend it.

Hi gang it's good to be in Florida, but today was not very warm.Temps were in the thirties this morning, but it's still a lot warmer than in Ct. , and of course the roads are clear.

We are going to look at some properties tomorrow to see if we find anything that we like in our price range,

Good Morning Gang,

Kat, thanks for the great tips. I'll interrogate the TA, but I've got some pretty good cruise prices through CruiseShopping.com so I have a price point for them to match.

TM, stay in FL. Here in Indiana 32 isn't in the current 10-day forecast.

Good evening gang.

We are staying in Fl. untill thursday. The locals say that it's cold but to me it feels comfortable.

We saw several houses today and will see a few more tomorrow. The prices are very reasonable so we just might end up buying something.

Trust me on the Venice Connected pass for the water bus. Best thing I did, we went all over that place include this mask making store that was amazing. Once were purchase some masks the sales people got a lot nicer. Be super careful when looking at the masks. Look do touch unless it's something you want to buy. Then let them know you want to buy it and they will let you hold it. Some of the masks were so amazing I can't find the words to descibe it. We got our masks at Tragicomica here is the website.
Masks Costumes from the Carnival Of Venice, mascheranda ball
Mine is like this one only green the detail is wonderful all hand painted.

Good Morning Gang,

A little late posting this morning. I'm just thinking that after TM buys his house in Palm Coast we can all use it for pre/post cruise stops when we sail out of Port Canaveral - it's only about a two hour drive

Kat - the masks are beautiful. I remember when Samantha Brown did her show on Venice that she went mask shopping. Look but Don't Touch seems to be rule, unless you are a TV host.

Hi gang

Our stay in Fl. is coming to an end, but we did make an offer on a house. We are going back home tomorrow and will wait to see what transpires.

Kat - the masks are beautiful. I remember when Samantha Brown did her show on Venice that she went mask shopping. Look but Don't Touch seems to be rule, unless you are a TV host.
Cute blondes also can get away with quite a bit. I saw that espoide also it was her first cruise. The area of Venice she was in it near where all the "true" mask maker are. It's worth the water bus ride.

TM good luck with the house. I hope your offer is accepted.:-D

Good Morning Gang,

TM good luck with the house. I warm weather home sounds pretty good right now. The DW is very fond of the beach. When we lived in FL she would take the kids to school and drive on out to the beach for an hour walk.
