Default Rain

Hello all
Been raining on the west coast today , at least up on Vancouver Island.
Countdown to our trip is now about four weeks and we have booked all of our excursions except we might begin a renovation while we are away which means where do I put all the furniture in the basement.

Mind you , once we get the estimate that might hold things off.

Have a great weekend. Ours is the Canadian Thanksgiving..

Happy Thanksgiving Rob. We have colleagues in Canada that were looking forward to their three day weekend.

Another hot one here. The predicted high is 87, I don't know if we hit it.

Went out and bought doors today - living the vita loca!

Cold and rainy here in Oregon.
Just got home from a great weekend visitng family. Dogs were even good for the sitter. They must be feeling more at home because they actually ate their food this time.

Time to unpack and cook some dinner,

TM is heading back home today. Have a safe flight TM.

Rob is heading out on Vacation in 4 weeks. Where are you headed Rob?

I'm going to the desert next week. I was working on a baby quilt that C-sis wants to give to a co-worker. I want to finish it before vacation. I will post pictures of it once I'm finished.

CQ I hope your monday is going well. We had nice weather this weekend. We are expecting a high of 90 degrees which is crazy for October. This is good for the garden. I still have tomatoes and the peppers are coming up.

Have a great Mojito/Milkshake Monday everyone.

Happy Monday everyone,

katlady are you knitting, sewing or crocheing (spelling?) the baby quilt?
I am looking forward to seeing the photo of it. I have NO talent to make such things but i love to see what others have made.

We are cool and dreary looking outside this morning. Close to 50 so not real cold for now. I guess its suppose to be a warm week, around 70 most days after today. Hope they are right,it will keep the electric bill down that much longer before cold winter weather sets in.

Have a great monday everyone,

mine will bew a relaxing one, I hope!! after a busy weekend.

Kathy

Good Morning Gang,

Carnival commercial on the TV this very minute - I don't want to work, but I will keep at it so I can go play.

Everyone have a good day. TM has the bittersweet flight home today.

I'm a advanced beginner quilter. That sounds a little silly, but I not brand new, however I had a ton to learn. This quilt is my first one doing applique techniques. Just for the record tear away stabilizer isn't that easy to tear away. I have all the applique work done I'm sewing the top together, after that I can put the layers together machine quilt and bind it. Quilts do take a while to put together. But I want to finish before vacation on Monday. I'm hoping to have it finish before c-sis' co-worker has her baby.

Well it sounds like you know what your doing.
I made one quilt years ago for my mom. Its so crooked its unbelievable.
But on the top I transferred old time family photos and then newer ones of grandkids and great grandkids for her so she loved it anyway.
Now i have it. But i swore never again!! Way too much work.

I sat on the floor tying off threads for hours My rear end and back were never the same again !!!

I like to machine quilt instead of hand tie it's much easier. I can't do anything to fancy. I just switch in the ditch. Here are some of my past quilts. I taught myself to bind a quilt from a youtube video.

This one I made for my MIL for Christmas.

This one I made for my cousin's new baby.

Kat,
those are really nice looking quilts. You do a great job. They would make nice gifts for people. I would never have thought to look at you tube to learn about quilt making.

Manuel, Welcome back, cant wait to hear all about your cruise.

Good night all,

Kathy

Good morning gang

Happy Long Island iced tea tuesday.

I got up early this morning because I am still in Portugal time.

We had a great time on our trip and I even got together with a cousin who lives in Vancouver.
We had great weather for our sight seeing. I enjoyed the food and put on a few pounds, so now I will have to get back to working out.

Kat, I did have the peixe espada (scabard fish) and I had a Portuguese boiled dinner three times ( cosido a Portuguesa ). The pastries were excellent. :-)

Mrs TM has been wanting to attend mass in Fatima, so we did.
I had never been to Conimbriga to see the Roman ruins and this time we went and I was impressed.

Now we can't wait to go back to Portugal. We are planning another trip in 2012. For 2011 we have two cruises and are planning a trip to Italy in the fall.

I will be visiting my mom later this morning. And we are having dinner with her this evening.

I wish you all a nice day and it is good to be posting here again.

TM

Good Morning Gang,

TM - welcome back. Sounds like you had a great trip.

Today is the DD's 30th birthday. When did I get old enough to have a 30 year old child?

Just a quick good mornng to everyone today.

I am heading back to bed for a bit. I am sore all over today.
I had to chase pixie yesterday as I was afraid the trash truck was goign to run ove rher as she got loose and ran full speed to attack it. She hates that truck.
So this old lady actually ran full speed to divert her without thinking and I really messed myself up physically. It was about a 3 block run there and back again before I was done. I havnt run in 25 years. Hope not to do it again. But i was amazed how fast I was

But Pixie is safe so it was worth it. It was my fault she was out, I forgot it was about time for them to come. I never have her outside when the pick up is done because it terrifies her so she goes crazy.

Have a great day everyone, I am headed for some advil and bed for a bit,

back later,
Kathy

I wasn't sure I was in the right place. There is a Serra de Santo Antonio in Brasil also it got a little confusing. I'm glad I picked that picture. I liked that picture because the two older Portuguese men remind me of going to the festas.

Kat, you did a super job with all the pictures. But it is confusing because Serra de Santo Antonio is a small town.

By the way that church was last rebuilt in 1910.

Serra De Santo Anotonio looks like a beautiful place. I llove that church it feels like a part of the coumminty. Most churches in Europe don't have that feel, they are big and showy. This one seems to be a gathering place for the people of the town. I did have to search a bit of find pictures of Serra De Santo Anotonio. but that is good practice for me. My job requires me to be able to skip trace and I like to keep my skills sharp.

Kathy I hope you are doing okay since chasing after your dog. I'm glad your dog was okay.
