Good Morning Gang!!

Another great Monday morning, a bit cool but that's ok.... we had a great weekend the weather was perfect!! Chance of rain today but we do need some rain (not a lot - just some!)

My hubby had his birthday party yesterday. So yesterday was a busy day for me. I wanted to finish the quilt and give it to my sister before we left to go camping. Plus I had a lot to do for the party. After the party we finished packing for the trip and we head on today probably in about an hour or so.

Thanks for the nice words about the quilt. I'm glad it came out as nice as it did. In the picture you can't see it as much, but there are still so sewing issues I need to work on.

Kathy I'm glad everything worked out with your son's car. sounds like your mom has a nice view from her room.

TM and Bob it rained here yesterday, but it suppose to clear up and be sunny so fingers crossed. We are bring the dogs I let them in the trailer and couple of times so they get use to it.

Bob the Colts game was exciting yesterday and the 49ers got there first win, to bad it was against the Raiders. My hubby as pretty happy, I'm a Raiders fan he is a 49er fan.

Bahamamomma sometimes the rain it nice because you don't have to water the plants.

Morning everyone,

It's cold and foggy today. When I look out it reminds me of one of those bad horror morror movies where the creature is waiting in the fog to grab you and eat your brains. If he comes after me he will sure have a surprize because according to my hubby there arn't many brains left anymore !!!!


Greg and Peter took his car for a drive yesterday and it ran great but of course they had to stop by the mall and Greg bought a new camera for us.
That man is dangerous when he shops without me.
It is the Sony we had picked out, plus the case and extra large memory stick. It was on sale so we saved about $50 by buying it now. Otherwise he would have been in trouble because cameras always go on sale during the pre-holiday time. Which we had agreed to wait for.

Now today I need to get use to using it. But unlike Greg I will read the instructions first !!! It looks so nice and simple which is what I wanted. Small enough to slip in my purse or strap on his belt.
Then to learn how to put them on the compter too. I have 6 weeks to become an expert or at least be able to snap a few shots before our vacation.

Have a great day everyone. I am off to take photos inside, outside,still and moving objects and panoramic shots too fo the hills around us.

Morning everyone,

Hope Kat is having fun with the snakes and scorpions usually found in the desert YIKES!! I had enough of those critters in Florida.


I got a few good photos yesterday. The outside ones were the hardest because it was so windy I couldnt hold the camera steady . It does have an auto stabilizer but that can only handle so much movement. But only 1 photo was a bit blurry so I was happy with my results.

More practice today,then I will read how to load the photos onto my computer. Of course most of my photos are of my dogs. They are always on the move so they made for good subjects. Its tricky to photograph a moving subject.

Today is 37 degrees. But we should have one more nice afternoon before the rain arrives.

Cool and fall like here in Indiana. My wife baked to cookies to send off for the son's birthday. He may not get them in time, but should be happy.

Good Morning Gang -

Back to work today after taking yesterday off - it was my 20th wedding anniversary. Dh and I spent the day together just doing the normal stuff he does everyday while I'm at work - it was a real eye opener as to what I can expect if I retire anytime soon!

We're having great weather here and on Friday we're going to be hit with as some would say "much needed rain" - well, not yet! let the farmers get all the crops out - then it can rain to its hearts desire.

Cold again this morning but we are suppose to have one last 70 degree afternoon today before the rain starts tomorrow and continues for as far as they predict.

TM tell you wife is she hates snakes Florida is not the place to live. After 9 years living in 4 different areas I have tons of snake stories and lizards and black widow spider stories that will give her the willies!!!

I lived in 3 new houses and one apartment when we first arrived. All were in nice subdivisions but the critters were everywhere.
I never did find a lizard that ran into my closet by the front door?? They are everywhere. Plus 3 different times I found large scorpions in the bathrooms!

Snakes, well lets say they are everywhere!! (11 of the worlds deadliest snakes live in Florida).Including my front porch when I opened the door to get the mail. Thank goodness he was a smaller one, only around 5 or 6 feet.
As Greg drove around for work he often found rattle snakes sunning themselves and they stretched across both lanes of the road. Nothing unusual to find them 10 feet or longer in length.
At least you could see them coming but the little pigmy (spelling?) rattle snakes as so small they scare you because you dont see them until your right on top of them. Their venom is much more potent than the larger snakes.
One of the leading cause of death for pets is snake bites in Florida.

Also there are small ponds everywhere and all of them have water moccasins and most have gators. The water mocassins will leave the water often and come into your yard is you live close by like we did once.

Someone near us must have released a Boa who got too large to keep. (this happens alot) because my dog Minnie killed 6 baby Boas in our back yard and burried them.

You also must know that gators are extremely fast on the run for several feet so no strolls along the water areas without risk. During mating season the gators often wander the neighborhoods eating cats and dogs.

You dont hear much about all of this until someone gets hurt and it makes the national news but it is a daily occurance there.

So at least in Kissimmee, Poinciana, Leesburg, and Fruitland Park snakes, lizards and gators are everywhere!!!


I didnt get to my camera yesterday, instead i did some baking so I best be getting back to the camera today.

Not to contradict Kathy (lest she crack her whip in my direction) but I saw very few snakes in our 10 years living in Florida. Not that there weren't plenty of them, I just stayed away from those places. I did see several walking around the cape, but our subdivision was built on a sand dune so we were pretty high and dry. I remember there are lots of canals in Palm Coast. You might not be so lucky up (down from CT) there.

Bob you were so lucky not to have many snakes around. We had tons of them, a daily occurance for some reason. But worse than the snakes were those tiny lzzards. They were everywhere. They were harmless but they would try to run inside everytime you opened the door. They startled you all the time.
I still loved Florida and want to live there again as soon as possible. Maybe not in the central part if other areas have less critters.

One morning we even had a bobcat come through our back yard. Many wild turkeys too. Neighbors said before our house was built there were 2 bobcats that would come through there often. But we only saw one. Plus the wild boar. Lots of them too. It was interesting to say the least.

I apreciate all the info on Florida.

We have some friends in Palm Coast and I have joined the Palm Coast Portuguese Club. The housing prices are quite low at this time, and we do plan to buy a house down there.
We can't live there full time, because I do want to see my mom as much as possible. But I do want to buy before the prices rebound ( if they ever do ).
