Hi gang,:
I want to tell you about my cruise exprience on the Liberty. First of all the Liberty is a beutiful ship, all decorated Italian style with a Venetian fliar. The Lido deck is not laid out as well as it could be for a smooth flow of people. Service on the ship was good, but dining room staff seemed to be struggle and were quite slow . The New Years Eve party was an exciting, awesome experience that I am so glad to have done. Unfortunately after New Years day, we encountered bad weather and the tours on Grand Cayman were canceled as was the docking in Jamaica. That of course was not Carnival's fault and the staff did its best to keep everyone entertained for three days at sea. The bottom line is Carnival offers a good cruise for the money, but I prefer Celebrity and that is where I will do the bulk of my cruising.

In closing, I am always happy to be on a cruise ship and the only bad cruise is the one I am not on. It is also good to be back to read and participate in all the posts.

why thank you TM for the little review!
How were the shows? and does the ship have a basketball court?

Carnival has been real good rates and I'm not picky at all I have fun no matter where I go.

TM sounds like a fun cruise. I have noticed slow service in the dining room, if I'm seated at a small table (4 people) that is why I prefer to be seated at a bigger table.

CQ; they have all types of sports activities.
As far as the service in the dining room, we were at a table for 8. They were not as organized as other cruise ships I have been on.
The ship singers and dancers were exellent as usual, and they did have two commedians (one not so good). The remaining night was a"Liberty Idol" night which meant the passengers were the entertainment. The other problem was that some activities overlapped others, so we could not do it all.

CQ our cruise was good but the weather put a damper on it. We did not get to do anything in Grand Caymen and the stop in Jamaica was cancelled. But since I'm a cruise lover I made the best of it.

Yep sometimes things happen and the ship can't dock and the port has to get cancelled. But that is ok there is plenty to do on the ship.

Sister took the ncl Gem out of ny to florida and bahamas and said it was cold everyday except for one day on the private island other then that many people were wearing a long sleeve shirt.

I have never cruised in December and now I know why. I want everything ports and the cruise ship. I'm greedy. I do want to someday do a new year's cruise that stops in Funchal. The Madeira website is nice cause it lists all the ships in port.

Our cruise was awesome except for the puke factor that put the buffet in lock down.

Am I last?

CQ, I posted this on another thread:

1/2 way through our cruise the entire buffet became NON self serve.
There was an outbreak of sickness so they wrapped the entire buffet in saran wrap to keep hands out.

They also placed a table in front of the water/iced tea stations to keep people from using them...which is the way those stations are supposed to be.

A couple examples I witnessed on this cruise:

A 7, 8 year old boy in front of me picked up a whole bunch of California rolls with his bare hands (tongs were right there) turned them over and set them back down. The attendant saw this and tossed the whole tray.
I asked his dad if he was seeing this and he appeared to not understand me. I shoulda just had the twerp spit on my food.

Another time my wife watched a lady holding a baby covered in snot filling up his sippy cup from the milk dispenser at the coffee station. There were individual cartons 10 feet away.

Some clown finished off his bottle of water and stuck it on the water dispenser to refill. Ya know the skinny tube that fits neatly INSIDE the bottle neck.

And my favorite was the very hairy guy in a speedo only with his wife in a bikini going through the buffet. Oh yeah, she never heard of a bikini wax.

I vote to keep the saran wrap.

As you will notice two of these stories involve people with kids. So parents (not all) are so inconsiderate and believe the world revolves around their kids. I have seen good parents too. But people like that make everyone sick.

I have been relating our cruise experiences here and there.

the positive far out weighed the negative.

Like the a** holes who split shifts between 5-6 people to save seats in the showroom.
20 minutes each and they had the seats saved for hours. Couples had no seats.
NO seats available 1 hour before the show but only about 40 people actually in the theater.
They ought to lock the door until 30 minutes before the show...make them sit in a line outside.

The window was very large so we did not feel cooped up.
It would nice if the widow could open a few inches so we could have some ocean/fresh air.
The advantage to this is we would walk around deck 6 after eating to enjoy the balmy weather.
The bathroom was laid out much better and felt quite roomy.
Its a little tricky controlling the temp in the shower...don't know why they don't just have "hot" and "cold" knobs.
TV sat back on a shelf so you had to hold the remote over your head to get it to work.
Did that for a coup[le days when I got home.
