Default Something funny

A contestant auditioning on American Idol this week grew up in Iowa ,yet he spoke with a british accent .

He was asked why and he replied "My family was so poor that we were only able to get the PBS tv station and I grew up on shows from the BBC."

Have you ever known a person who spent their entire life in America who spoke with a british accent ? ,I have and to this day I have no idea why.

I tend to mimic, I am afraid that after our trip to England I am going to have to stop myself from using a bad British accent

That person either watched A LOT of TV or is pulling everyone's leg. I find it very hard to believe that unless your immediate family, school mates and others have an English accent that person would.

I grew up with a British mother who had a strong accent and in my early life we had little TV and I do not have a British accent.

Green: I strongly suggest not mimicking an accent. It can be very insulting.

Take care,
Mike
