I was wondering when they would attempt to right the ship. It surely would be cheaper to repair it than scrap it but I'm no expert on that. I agree with a couple of others--I think they will repair and re-name it. I can't see people staying off it simply because of the incident itself but like Mike, I would be concerned about who was in charge of the thing if I were aboard it.
I think for everyone' sake the sooner they get it removed from sight the better, even if they towed it out and sunk it. No need for it to sit there and be such a nightmare of memories for so many.
So... refloat it, and, sell it to a country far away. I think, you'd have to have lived under a rock, to not know what happened and the Concordia, and that it will soon be sailing as: the S.S. Huh, Who Me......!

The Concardia did not crash because a failure in her mechanical systems I would sail her again. Of course I would have gone on the first post Challenger shuttle if they would have let me.

Out of respect for those who lost their lives, I don't think I would sail on her. I also think out of respect the ship should not sail again. That I think would be a fitting tribute for this needless loss of life. Just my opinion.
I think it should be raised not to remind the people of human, stupid mistake. I can't stop thinking how this happened. What kind of captain would give so unprofessional order?
Anyway, if she returns to sail again, the people will forget and go, some of them will go per curiosity, but they all will ask who the captain would be. And I am sure they will put the best captain that they have...
The article does not say it will be refurbished and put back into service, it says once it is floated, it will be sent to an Italian port. Two "salvage" companies are in charge of the recovering and towing it away. As the article says, "Once returned to a floating state, the wreck will be towed to an Italian port," Costa Cruises said in a news release. A decision on what to do with the ship after it has been towed will be up to Italian authorities, according to Pier Luigi Foschi, chairman of Costa Cruises."
According to what I've read elsewhere, at this time no decision has been made as to what to do with the ship as of yet and that decision seems to be leaning towards one of two choices at this moment; scrapping or selling to another company. I would imagine that decision is probably going to be based solely on which way will be the most financially beneficial for Carnival Corporation, who owns Costa. And based on what else I've read and what I've heard from inside contacts, it appears they have already decided they are not going to repair it and keep it.

Supposedly, they were to "anchor her" this past week and begin the process of turning her rightside up so she can be floated in the Spring. I think they were going to fasten the lines into or around the big rock.
