Re: Presently 4 EXCELLENT CruiseMates Group Cruises to choos
Hi Marci,
Not to worry. You won't be alone. Though a ship to yourself may not be that bad.
Though I haven't talked to the agent, I'm sure there are others booked already too. Sometimes it seems some people are reluctant to jump on the boards to say they've booked... but sure eventually they'll start sharing the excitement.
Re: Presently 4 EXCELLENT CruiseMates Group Cruises to choos
Hi CruiseGuy:
Nice to know that I have company!!! I also priced about 14 different sites, and came upon this cruise group by accident. Could not beat the price.......
Are you staying safe out of the path of all the fires??? Our air is so filled with ash....as I am sure yours is. My thoughts and prayers are for everyone involved, hope they will be able to put those fires down soon.
This is my first cruise with a group, so I am looking forward to it. I am counting the days.....I located one other couple from Las Vegas, who are also on this cruise, but not in our group.......
Small world, Cruise Guy, my quarter horse came from Art Miller's ranch in Joshua Tree....
Keep in touch and I'll spot you a Margarita when we get on board!!
Re: Re: Presently 4 EXCELLENT CruiseMates Group Cruises to c
Marci, We live in the high desert (Yucca Valley) so were not getting any of the smoke. But it is tragic. You don't know just how small the world is. When I stated that I am a TA, thats my second hat. My main occupation is a Realtor, guess who I work for. Art Miller Jr. at Western Hills Realty. I will take you up on the Margarita. Lets keep in touch.
Re: Presently 4 EXCELLENT CruiseMates Group Cruises to choos
Hey Cruise Guy:
You are right, what a small world. My quarter horse's registered name was "Art's Jesse" ....one of the best experiences that I ever had learning how to ride and show for many years...
Am surprised that the board is so quiet about this cruise.....and that the group leader is not talking it up.......
I met a couple from Vegas on another board who are also cruising with us....sounds like you have done Mexico before....what are you all planning to do in Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan????
Re: Re: Presently 4 EXCELLENT CruiseMates Group Cruises to c
Marci, In PV, we're going on the Pirate Ship Marigalante ( but the morning tour) you can book it on line. In Mazatlan, we're doing the Deer Island tour booking on the ship. I've got two more friends that are going to. Hope to see you there. Do you have your room number yet?
Re: Presently 4 EXCELLENT CruiseMates Group Cruises to choos
Marci and Cruiseguy.. I know there are more cabins sold on the Pride sailing. Hopefully we can encourage some of the others who've booked it to "come out and play" with you on the boards before the cruise <G>
Re: Re: Presently 4 EXCELLENT CruiseMates Group Cruises to c
Hey Harry:
Welcome to our group!!! I am in cabin 6262, aft....have heard these cabins are great as you have a 180 degree view....will see if that is true or not!! Was upgraded 5 catagories when I booked, so I am doing a happy dance!!
Are you in the L.A. area???? Am in Orange County.......
Cruise Guy....sounds like you have great plans for the ports.....am undecided as of yet....think I may just get someone to drive me around to the different things I want to see in port.....haven't been there for 12 years, so I am sure that things have really changed....want to lunch at Shrimp Bucket in Mazatlan and maybe do the Dolphin thing in P.V.......
How about you Harry, have you and Art got plans for the ports yet???? What ships have you sailed on before??? I almost cruise the Spirit in Oct.....did you do that cruise???
Re: Presently 4 EXCELLENT CruiseMates Group Cruises to choos
Hi Marci,
You will love your cabin -- huge balconies and we love looking at the ship's wake -- great ocean sound! We are 8182, with one of the extended balconies (which we've had before)
We are in San Diego County (San Marcos -- north county).
We just got off the Spirit Oct 24th to Acapulco -- had a wonderful relaxing time. The cabins on the Spirit class are fantastic -- tons of storage and the most comfortable balconies we've ever had.
In port, most likely we will just plan a walk and lunch on the Malecon in PV, book some excursion in Mazatlan (our least favorite port -- by the way, the colonial villages tour is fantastic) and just pop in and out in Cabo and use most of the day as a relaxing time.
This is our 4th time to Mex Riviera in the past 3 years, so we look forward to visiting our old friend again.
Re: Presently 4 EXCELLENT CruiseMates Group Cruises to choos
Marci and Cruiseguy, remember to do online registration at carnival.com after Nov 25th -- that should speed up emarkation for us in no time. Can't wait to see whether it really helps.
Re: Presently 4 EXCELLENT CruiseMates Group Cruises to choos
Marci, are you the same person who was doing the 911 Conquest cruise and then couldn't go? I was also scheduled to go and ended up not being able to. I am glad to hear that you are finally getting to cruise.
Re: Presently 4 EXCELLENT CruiseMates Group Cruises to choos
Hi Everyone!
I posted elsewhere but this board seems to be the most active (can't imagine why!) )
Capt Ron and I are also on board and hope to do some whale watching. I haven't heard back from Ginny this morning and am concerned that we may not have gotten our aft suite - if someone beat her to it. Hopefully we're in 5295.
We live in the upper-upper high desert in a small town called Ridgecrest. We're located on the eastern side of the Sierras. We are both federal employees working at the largest Navy base in the world, here in the Mojave desert!!
I'll definitely get registered on line. Thanks, Harry for letting us know about that. Since this is our first Carnival cruise, we'll need to learn the "ropes".
By the way, is Mike around? I'd sure like to know something about him. Is there the potential for all of us eating dinner together on a nightly basis? I haven't given Ginny our dining preference yet.
Re: Presently 4 EXCELLENT CruiseMates Group Cruises to choos
I just talked to Ginny and she has us all booked for late seating. Evidently "group reservations" won't be open until tomorrow morning, so we won't know for sure until then.
Another subject: Lodging the night before the cruise. I've talked to both Sheraton LA Harbor and the Queen Mary.
Sheraton's deal definitely is better, at $149 plus unlimited inside parking, includes a bottle of champagne or sparkling cider, breakfast, and shuttle to and from the ship.
Queen Mary offers a room for $109 a night plus $10 pier parking per day.
Re: Re: Presently 4 EXCELLENT CruiseMates Group Cruises to c
SharB, I'v stayed on the Queen Mary recently, its a dump. Smelly, outdated rooms with little or no air conditioning. I would have done better at a Motel 6. Take the Sheraton. Hope you get that room on the back of the ship, there the best.
Re: Presently 4 EXCELLENT CruiseMates Group Cruises to choos
Hi Cruiseguy~
and an expensive dump...hmmmm....I need to see if the Sheraton will shuttle to Carnival's pier. I am considering the BW Long Beach too and Ayres Hotel Seal Beach. Ayres is really nice and an upscale non-smoking hotel. They do offer a free shuttle but only "when available". The reservation clerk said she'd be happy to arrange a taxi if the shuttle isn't available (
Re: Presently 4 EXCELLENT CruiseMates Group Cruises to choos
Shar, Cruiseguy, Marci, Mark, et al ...
Pardon the soon-to-be-generic message, but I was thinking let's consolidate trip/port/hotel/cruise sharing information under a new thread.
That way we can all check under one message thread for news about the Cruisemates cruise on the Pride (and all others joining us will know where to go).
I will set up a new post/thread titled "Cruisemates Cruise on the Pride" under the "Cruisemates Cruises" section under "People."
I hope this way all of us can check in for the latest news in the quickest manner -- we had about 4-5 notes going on different boards here.
Hope that's OK. ... Gonna post this on the other message threads now, too.
