First cruise!!

Going on my first cruise ~~ Carnival Fantasy, April 18, 2004. Need packing tips and ideas for formal nights. What are the onboard shops like? Also would like tips on where to go and what to do?? Has anyone been on this ship in the last few months?

cruises are great! been on 35 and all but one on carnival. was on your ship yesrs ago, there all the same except for size. dress up nite anything goes. slack suit, sun dress or all out. you need very little clothes, shorts bathing suit and jeans.

I like the help I got from the book "How to Pack" by the travel experts Fodor's.

Just a couple of tips; don't take a lot of shoes. I only wore sandals, comfortable walking & one pair of dress for evening(black)
You will be in shorts, t-shirts, swimsuits most of the time. pack light. and if you are in the tropics wear light color clothing.
a light windbreaker in case of rain, maybe a sweater or shaw if you tend to get cold in the A.C.
I took an extra tote bag for shopping on the shore trips, that came in handy for dirty laundry going home.

Don't stress out over things, just enjoy!!!
