Default Houston to Galveston suggestion

Blueliner has a thread about Galveston where he shares....

I'm guessing one could fly into Hobby or Bush on the sailing day, pay the daily rental, drive to Galveston, drop off and take their shuttle to the pier.

Something to think about, aside from our SUV and the tip jar on the dash!

Ok so go ahead and confuse me even more----lol
I think I will worry about planning for this cruise when I get back from my cruise in a few weeks------
But I do know one thing for sure--- going in a day ahead-----maybe two-- I don't want to miss the ship -- just in case the plane or flight has issues--
Can't wait to see you and some of the others from the Bloggers group---
The more the merrier-----
Cheers
April

P&L
You may need a bigger SUV and a much bigger TIP Jar.

OK youz guyz !

We were talking the other day about which day we would take off prior to the cruise and if it worked out one of us would be available for shuttle service.

Traffic is really bad between 3pm and 7pm CST(weekdays) along 45 south from Hobby to just past NASA. Weekends are a crap shoot.

The SUV has 4 seats plus a cargo area. Depending on the amount of luggage, you can get 6 or 7 folks in there. (Or a St. Benard and a Doberman).

A message from an airfare/hotel tracking service.....
The price of the "Comfort Inn & Suites Beachfront" hotel that you're tracking has dropped to 69.99 dollars per night. Our records show that you started tracking this hotel at 129.99 dollars per night. That's a savings of 60.00 dollars!

I've been checking some of the transportation services from Houston to Galveston, and I think the Carnival transfer is not a bad deal! This is from the Carnival website ...
......................
Cost of Transfers:
Houston Intercontinental Airport (IAH) to Port of Galveston: One Way: $40.00/person Round Trip: $80.00/person

Houston Hobby Airport (HOU) to Port of Galveston: One Way: $30.00/person Round Trip: $60.00/person

Transfer rates are subject to change and any unused services are non refundable.

What are the Flight Guidelines for the Latest Airport Arrivals and Earliest Return Flights:
Latest Flight Arrival:
Arrivals into the Houston Intercontinental Airport (IAH): 1:00pm or Houston Hobby Airport (HOU): 1:30pm

Earliest Flight Departures:
Earliest departures out of the Houston Intercontinental Airport (IAH) or Houston Hobby Airport (HOU): 1:30pm

Prior to your cruise you will be met at the airport:
You will be met and assisted by our meet & greet service in the baggage claim area and then escorted to your vehicle for transfer to the port. Transfer time generally begins around noon depending on flight arrivals.
.......................

The Butterfly and I will be using Houston Hobby, so $60.00 RT doesn't sound too bad to me.

T C,
If you are arriving the day of sailing just be sure to arrive in Houston early--like 9am--to allow for traffic etc.

FYI for folks thinking about visiting Moody Gardens on this trip.............

Moody Gardens plans major makeover

Friday, October 02, 2009 | 6:31 PM GALVESTON, TX (KTRK) -- A popular local tourist attraction is getting a multi-million dollar makeover.

Moody Gardens is about to begin a $25 million project to renovate the rainforest pyramid. The pyramid will close October 5 while crews work to build a new entrance, new walkway and make repairs to damage caused by Hurricane Ike. They're also adding new plants and wildlife including birds, fish and butterflies.
The attraction will reopen in time for the 2010 summer vacation season, but the full project won't be completed for another two years.

**There still seems to be a problem with me getting a list of galleries for my login under the personal photo section where I have the pics below.
Consequently I cannot give the link to the "gallery" named
Houston cruise shuttle service because it takes me INTO the gallery rather that the list of galleries.**

Ok...for those not using the Phil & Liz shuttle service ....

There is the "Blue" Super Shuttle service of which I have posted the front and back of their ad here..

Hi Phil and once again thanks for helping us out------with all your great info--and checking out the Spot for us
I'm actually booked with AJ Limo------99.00 for everything including tax and tip------that rate was for up to 3 people even though there is only two of us----and all we have to do is go to baggage claim and then look for a guy hold a sign with our name on it------------
Sorry I cant read what you posted---even with my glasses on so I cant comment on those rates----and boy can they vary-------
Cheers
April
