If y'all want, we can put together a little pre cruise gathering Saturday evening. We will need to RSVP for this so that we can tell them how big a group etc to reserve.
If we plan it right we can tell our friends to look at the live webcam there while we wave to them!
MOSQUITO CAFE - Galveston, Texas is another place thats looks good and have heard good things about. Problem there is that they close the kitchen at 830pm and lock the doors at 9pm.
Well I've read about the first 2 places--great reviews----

I'm sadly not cruising with all of you, but hope to make it down for the one night pre cruise get together. I'll check back and see what place has been decided upon... The Spot is a casual place located along the seawall with a walk up order system. You get a number after ordering, find a place to sit. They are know for their burgers, and also have fish or chicken sandwiches, salads, etc. The Wharf Restaurant is located close to the historic Strand area, at the harbor. I've not eaten there, but it has good reviews. Looking forward to meeting all of you, and visiting with April and you too Paul! Ingrid
OK. We just returned from the island. We mistakenly went down for Dickens but, alas, it is next weekend! So , we will be down there again next weekend!
We went to both The Spot and Mosquito.
We arrived at The Spot at 1pm Saturday to find a long line...of bikers! We decided not to wait but to head back to Mosquito so we can't comment on the food at Spot.
It did look like a nice place to hang out. Might be windy, as it was today, for outside eating, particularly in January. They have a Tiki Bar next to it and next door is the nightclub/bar called Drip.
Food at Mosquito was good but the place is small relative to the number of people it holds= noisy! Not a good place to have a conversation in.
When we first asked about the Spot and group resv's they indicated they like to have the groups at 20 or larger. It looks like we may have just that number.
It is located at 32nd and Seawall so folks who are lodging along Seawall should have an easy time getting to it.
The deck(s) outside have a webcam pointed at them so we could be seen by anyone at anytime so..umm..keep your shirt on will ya!!!;-)
I guess we should make an official decision to offer everyone to attend a pre cruise get together at The Spot and set a time for...say...7pm
It is of course dutch treat, arrive whenever, and have fun!
Anyone have thoughts ?

Our arrival will depend on the afternoon shuttle schedule. There was a group for the afternoon...Kelzbelz I think ? Whatever time they arrive and we drive to the island is when we will be at The Spot.
As a backup plan we can also try the Saltgrass that is just near your hotel TC. If for whatever reason it doesn't work Saltgrass is not far from The Spot. Would kinda not expect the Spot to be that busy on a Saturday in January but you never know.

Reading through the above, it appears that the pre-cruise meeting on Saturday is scheduled for the Spot at 7 pm. Peggy and I plan to be there and are looking forward to meeting a lot of new Cruisemates.
With this nasty weather, I guess all of us are l badly in need of the warm Caribbean. Even Texas is cold right now. This little critter is the coolest symbol I could find.
Just got confirmation email from the manager of The Spot.
She is ready for us beginning at 6:30pm or so. Liz & I may be arriving closer to 7-715 since the shuttle will be making its second run from Hobby about then.
I mentioned our groups name as "Snooze Cruise". They may know it at the entrance and they may not.
Hopefully the weather will cooperate. Another post mentioned cool temps in the low 50's and some chance of rain.

I checked for Saturday and it's 40% chance of rain for Galveston, NOLA is 60% for Saturday, so my worst fear will be coming true I will have to fly out in a rain storm I'm not a real big fan of flying anyway, but have an even bigger fear of flying in the rain!
But on the good side the Saints will be playing The Cardnials at 3:30, so as long as I am in front of a TV by that time it will all be good! GEAUX SAINTS!
