Are you reading my mind ???
I was almost going to ask this same question-----I've been to Jamaica before and did a tour with Peat Taylor but that was from Ocho Rios a few years ago---my husband has never been there --- I read about Marva ? who does similar tours but havent really looked into it-
Cheers
April
Margaritaville comes to mind------
I was thinking about Margaritaville in Mo Bay until last night when I read some really bad reviews about it. Some of the bad things said were ... poor service, overpriced food, too crowded, dirty, and tasteless behavior On the other hand, it's a bar on the beach with a water slide, water trampoline, and plays mostly Jimmie Buffet music And did I mention a bar on the beach???

Other than that I'm still undecided

Wait a minute! We might not be going to Margaritaville?? Ok fine. So now where are we going?

TC, is there any beach at Margaritaville? Not that I need a beach, when I have margaritas and music!
I looked at some pictures of Sunset Beach all inclusive. It you like swimming pools, it looks really nice. The beach part? Not so much.
I keep reading that Doctors Cave beach is pretty, but kind of small.
This is a hard port, unless you want to do the falls or zipline.
I think at Grand Cayman, it may just be a trip to Royal Palms on 7 Mile Beach. I've done the snorkeling with the stingrays already. Great experience!

Not to worry Linda! It is ON ... we'll go to Margaritaville, check it out for ourself If it's no good .. then it's on to Doctors Cave. There is no "beach" at Margaritaville, but it's on the water, they have a really neat water slide (free) and a water trampoline (fee?) it's a 3 story building. I have been there before, and it was fun, on that same trip we walked to Doctors Cave and spent a couple of hours on the beach too. Don't worry ... Be Happy! No Problem Mon!
TC
Nothing yet but we are open to suggestions. We have done the Stingray thing in Grand Cayman and the zip line in Ochos Rios. Most likely shop, lunch and a few beers. Mike

I would suggest Doctors Cave THEN Margaritaville if you are doing both. It's a downhill walk if you do it in that order.
Doctors Cave has a very good beach bar that is more reasonably priced than MV. I've had both mixed drinks and Red Stripe there. They have always had a Jamacian folk type band as well. More laid back really. Beach is great.
There's also a 'secret' way back to the ship if your not going to MV from Doc's. Easy, fast, and scenic.
If anyone has NOT done the stingrays then you HAVE to do that. It's a given for here. There are local companies that do very good tours. I have used NativeWay several times.
The Margaritaville here is the newest in the Caribbean, but also the most expensive.;-) Shopping is nice, but dear. The one bargain here is liquor. They have a very nice new liquor store at the new pier. I don't know which we will use, but it's worth the walk over anyway.
Hey, thanks for the tip on MV/Doctors Cave, Snoozeman! Downhill is the only way to travel! Are you going to share the secret way back to the ship with us??
Wow, TC, you might have a hard time getting me away from the beach. A beach, cheap drinks, AND live music??? I'll be in heaven! Of course after a couple of drinks, I'll go wherever you want me to.

OK .... I vote that this be a Snoozeman tour of Doctor's Cave ... maybe M'Ville ... and "Secret Passage" what do you think Linda?? Should we join the "Snoozeman Secret Passage" tour?? Any one elese intrested?????? ... no sign up fee, just join your local Snoozeman for a fun filled day of beaching /drinking/and secret passage sight seeing
TC
We could do that. I'd prefer Doctors Cave over anything else there. I'm more of a sit in the bar next to the beach kinda guy, but the beach is great. Best in area. You can rent umbrella, chairs, or whatever.
Another option is to make Doctors Cave your base and you could walk down to M'ville then back to Doc's. Most would just go back to the ship from M'ville as there is a BIG taxi stand there. It's not that far though.
I'd tell you the secret transportation, but we don't want many to know about it. It's not a regular deal at all. I should be able to arrange it once we are there. Let's just say I know a guy with a boat and we cut across the bay. You can eliminate traffic and security as we'll be dropped at the pier behind the shore security. I know the secret gate to go through, then it's just the ships security. I've been able to arrange it the last three times there and once for friends, but you never know.

This is why you ar "the man!" The secret passage tour is ON!

Oh yeah! I'm in!! Sounds like a great idea....Doctors Cave (with a possible trip to Margaritaville), escorted by the tour guide of the day, Snoozeman!!
And the boat ride back to the pier, if it can be arranged, sounds awesome!! This cruise just keeps sounding better every day.
I think I'd better shoot off an email to Nancy and make SURE she got me hooked up with your group. I'd hate to miss the cocktail party, etc.

What's going to be good about this excursion is that it is very simple for all. I'll start a thread and get some specifics, but basically we will taxi there. Now that taxi will really be a tourist bus, but you get it from the taxi stand. We can go together or individually. I had friends that went last year and we all went at different times as some wanted to be early to snorkel, etc. We just met up once there. The bus will first stop at the shopping area, then near Margaritaville, last stop is Doctors Cave. Usually we've been the only ones going on that far. It's the same price as cab, but it's cheap. Only $5-6 pp if I recall correctly. I will go over about 10:00 am, unless I decide to snorkel.
For the beach lovers there will be the beach--for the bar crowd there will be a bar. Admission was $5 pp, then you pay for what you use: i.e beach chairs, umbrellas, etc.
BTW--the snorkel area that the ship uses is right next to Doctors Cave so if you want to snorkel save the $ and just book it at the beach. You can actually swim it yourself. I think I just talked myself into snorkeling. Depends on the weather.
So Ray....Do we need to bring my BIL's Texas DPS badge along on this secret passage or enough cash for bail
No "extra" cargo on this boat, right
This sounds like a great idea to me. Sign Phil, Liz and Dad up for this.
Phil & Liz
I never thought about that, it would be a good way to smuggle I guess. I still wouldn't chance it. There actually is a guard at the secret gate, by the secret dock, where the secret boat hopefully will drop us. Of the three times I used it she has never got off her can nor left her little shack.
It actually will be a little less walking for Dad too. Certainly avoids the crowds. No line until we go up the gangway. (If all goes as planned)
