Default It's time to start getting excited

OK, everyone. Let's start showing some enthusiasm! Any hints for excursions? places we shouldn't miss? Let's hear from some of you....I know we are a fairly large group.

Default Door decorations

Hmmmm. Do I give up suitcase space for clothes in order to decorate our door? That's a difficult decision for a member of Overpackers Anonymous.
That requires a lot of thought!!

On the wall of my prep area is a sign which says:

This kitchen serves the four basic food groups:

Chocolate fudge
Chocolate brownies
Chocolate ice cream
Diet cola

I'm just starting to look at air to LA for the cruise. I've always flown into LAX.

Anyone know if flying into Orange County airport any better choice, and closer to San Pedro... since it's an available choice to me?

Default Yea! We're getting closer!!!

Hi Everyone! It was soooo great to get the new email from Kuki! Now we can feel like it's really gonna happen!
Kuki: In response to your email, we'd like to participate in everything we can (except the golf - I'm too uncoordinated and Ron can't see the ball ) - Gift exchange is always fun, the Cabin Door decorating is something we always do (at one level or another). Ditto the ugliest Aloha shirt contest and the Spouse Swap! On the longer cruises, Ron and I tend to move to separate seats at our Traditional table - so we'll have a better chance to chat with everyone, in other words, we kinda do it anyway . We're looking forward to see what else you come up with!

Hi all! Anyone have a group whale watch tour planned? I know Shar has a whale watch scheduled, but is there a group watch out there? I think time will fly now and before we know it we will have only a month to finalize all our plans. I for one am looking forward to that day, ! I am trying to get some thoughts from my party so I can finalize some things. Slow Pokes!

Default Getting ready

We just returned from 2 weeks on the EPIC and I'm washing and repacking for this trip.
We would like to take part in Trivia, door decorating and whatever fun stuff you are planning. We'll skip the golf, however!
We have always enjoyed a slot pull with fellow cruisers on another board and hope we have one here. It would also be nice to meet the captain and staff as on "that other board."

Hi everyone! February can't come soon enough for us! This is our 1st Cruisemates cruise, as well as our first trip to Hawaii. We haven't planned any excursions yet, as we're hoping to pick up ideas and suggestions from those of you who have sailed this itinerary before. So....feel free to share.

Kuki, we look forward to participating in activities you'll arrange for this group. We've read about the antics on previous Get Lei'd cruises and have no doubt we'll fit right in.

Looking forward to meeting everyone soon!

Jan

Default Dinner Impossible

We watched an old episode of DI last night where the chef prepared some really delicious hors d'oeuvres for a sapphire sail away party. Do you think we'll be that lucky???? probably not!
is anyone planning on going to the Polynesian Cultural Center while we are in Honolulu?

let's get busy here! Are we the only ones getting excited about this cruise or are you waiting until after the holidays to chat?

Marianne,

Yup, once the holidays have passed we'll get busy pumping things up for the CM group cruise.

I'll have a list of all those who've made their final payments, and if any might have had to cancel.

I used to land vacation in Hawaii quite a bit, and have been to the cultural center several times. It's very enjoyable, so if anyone hasn't been, they may want to consider it.

Default Polynesian Cultural Center

Hi Marianne!
We are going to the PCC on a Princess sponsored tour. We were going to go on our own through the local transportation, but wanted to attend the luau with the show. The show gets out late and made it iffy to get back to the ship before she sails. We've driven the route before and the traffic was horrible.

Shar

PS - I am lurking, just don't have much to say (yet)

Default Shar

We are doing the same...I have been to PCC (Dirk has not) and I would much rather know that the ship will wait! It is just too far to take a chance on a late bus or someone dawdling and causing us to leave late.I have to check with Princess to make sure that they can transport his scooter...it really is a lot of walking.

We were going to meet with some Japanese/American ww2 vets for the day, but maybe we can see them in the morning.Dirk has some photos to give them for their archives. (His father was with the 442 RCT when it began in 1943 and went "up the boot of Italy" with them. In fact, Dirk was born the day before the regiment was chartered.

We don't have anything else planned for the ports. I'm not brave enough to rent a car and go on our own (I can get lost in a closet and Dirk can be relied on to go the wrong way!) I'll have to research Harley distributorships so we can get a couple of tee shirts for the boys.

Aloha for now!

Default flying on Southwest

I just checked Southwest's prices and I saved $30 per ticket by canceling and re booking our flights. You might want to check for yourself.($59 from Denver to LA)

Well Kuki, I hope that under ware includes your thong(s). I am sure a good number of folks going with us have not experienced that sight. I have decided what we are taking, it is hanging in the closet ready to be placed in the suitcase so I'm only waiting on the new passports (old ones expire during the actual get lei'd cruise) to fill out my docs and then I'm ready. Sure hope they come soon as we are off on a few little road trips between now and the holidays then a cruise the first week in Jan and then it's time to get lei'd. Let's hope they come soon. Doing the countdown like everyone else and are very excited! See you all soon.
