Crystal passenger will appreciate this
I sailed on the Grand Princess and in one of the Caribbean ports a Crystal ship was docked across from the Grand. Several passengers made comments like "look at that old ship" or "I'll bet it doesn't cost much to go on that old ship." I educated everyone and told them Crystal is the Rolls Royce of cruise ships. Thought you Crystal cruisers would get a kick out of this!

Any idea which Crystal ship it was, Carol?

Re: Re: Re: Crystal passenger will appreciate this
Sorry, if it was this summer, it couldn't have been either Crystal ship since the Harmony spent the early summer in Asia and is now in Alaska. The Symphony sailed to Europe in early May (I was on that cruise from Ft. Lauderdale to London starting May 9), and she won't return from Europe until her November crossing to FL. So I highly doubt the ship they saw was either of the Crystal ships. Besides, if they really did see a Crystal ship, they don't look old, worn or anything like that. They are the best maintained ships out there.

I have excellent eye sight and the ship I saw last winter in the Caribbean was definitely Crystal. Not sure which one!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Crystal passenger will appreciate this
Your original post didn't state when you saw the ship, and since your post was dated the 20th of August, it was a simple assumption that you just saw the ship on a recent summer cruise. No one was questioning your eyesight.

At least this photo shows when the Grand and Harmony were in port together. (G)

Yes, this is the Crystal ship I saw in the Caribbean. Found it amazing the 2 ships were docked so close together.

Both those pictures are in Cozumel...if the date on the picture is right.

I took a similar picture of the two ships in Cozumel a few years back. I am going on the Grand Princess for the first time in August. I know it will be a big step down from Crystal, but I am not wealthy enough for Crystal right now.

Want to hear something really funny? I swear it's true.
Last month we took the Star Princess from Los Angeles to Vancouver. At sail-away the Star followed the Crystal Harmony out of the channel. One young woman, on her first cruise, said "Wow! Look at that other ship! It's huge!" She said this from the top deck of the Star Princess, and I don't think she believed me when I told her how much bigger the Star is than the Harmony, but heck, who cares? It's all perspective, anyway. :-) |

I'll bet she has a hard time buying shoes, too. A bit of a size perception problem.

I've met a chihuahua like that, with the opposite perception problem. He must have thought he was very big, indeed. He ruled over a Doberman in the same household. It was hilarious to watch. |
