I know that a Crystal ship is supposed to be docking in Monterey, CA sometime this October. BEWARE: In May, a Princess ship was unable to disembark their passengers because of "rough waters" - In September the Royal Carribean Grandeur set anchor down and was told that they could not use their own tenders and the city sent in old smelly terrible fishing boats -- no life preservers -- only 25 people were able to get in the boat and RCCL staff were not allowed to step foot into them to help their passengers -- I would suggest the anyone scheduled to be on that cruise to be forewarned about going to Monterrey -- enter there at your own risk!

On the other hand, Fall is generally the calmest time along coastal waters in Central California. I've been on positioning cruises in September/October when the coast is absolutely calm and clear. If you do get to Monterey, don't pass up the chance to see the wonderful aquarium there and Cannery Row.

Did the Crystal Ship dock in Monterrey and were they able to get passengers off this time?

I guess someone else answered my question about the Crystal line docking in Monterrey - it's a beautiful city and worth a trip going there but the cruise lines need to pick another beautiful city -- how about Santa Barbara?

Celebrity includes Santa Barbara in their coastal California itinerary.

I don't believe the Harmony is permitted into the Monterey Bay due to a violation that happened earlier this year. Ship crew were fired and apologies were made, but the Harmony is no longer permitted into Monterey Bay. I do not believe either of the other Crystal ships are being banned.

Has there EVER been a ship that was able to get their passengers off via tender and visit the beautiful city of Monterrey? If that has not ever been done, why are the cruise ships continuing to put Monterey on their itinerary?

I don't know, but it is a pity that laws make it very difficult for ships to make calls at US cities. It would add so much to the US tourist business.
