Default Upgrades?

I hear some stories of people receiving cabin upgrades. How and why do you get an upgrade?

Contact whoever you booked with and ask for one.

Thanks. What I meant was, for what REASON do they give you upgrades? Is it because they are not full at the time of departure?

If they have spare capacity they will probably upgrade you because it does not really cost them anything to do it, and it is good customer relations from their point of view. On the other hand if the ship is full they can't do it. We were told before boarding that the ship was full and no changes were possible.
However it costs nothing to ask - good luck.

David.

Sorry to disagree, but the least likely reason for them to upgrade you will be because some of the more expensive space is unsold. This would be unfair to those who paid for it... and is not likely to happen, on Cunard or any other line. More likely is that, close to the sailing date, it is difficult to sell the more expensive cabins and they will sell and resell and resell the less expensive stuff and keep moving people up. You might get a better cabin in Mauretania... or Caronia... but don't expect to go from Mauretania to Caronia... or to be upgraded into the Grill categories... it almost never happens and for good reason.
