Does anyone know if there are sockets on the back of the cabin TVs that a camcorder could be plugged into. If so, what type of plugs are used. I never bothered to look last time I was on board.
I'll be cruising next week so of course the sooner I know the better, thanks.
(I am aware that the TVs will probably be NTSC standard).
Jon, I've done it but I think I used the little UHF addapter, that came with the camcorder, and plugged into the ariel socket. If I remember right the TV's were PAL not NTSC but I'm not sure.
JON,
THIS IS NOW THE 4TH TRY AT A REPLY TO YOUR QUESTION. IF THIS DOES NOT WORK I GIVE UP!
I DID THE 2002 WORLD CRUISE IN #8102 (WHERE YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO HAVE THE BEST OF EVERYTHING).I HAD THE VERY SAME ISSUE AS YOU. THE TV WAS A 25"? WITH "NO" CONNECTIONS. AFTER WEEKS OF "RE" REQUESTING A CORRECTION TO THIS, THEY SHOCKED AND SURPISED ME BY ADDING AND MOUNTING A 2ND SMALLER TV! TOUGH IT DID LOOK STUPID, IT WAS A GREAT CONVERSATION PIECE DURING COCKTAIL PARTIES, AND IT DID HAVE THE CONNECTIONS ON IT WHICH SOLVED THE PROBLEM.
I JUST GOT OFF A CROSSING ON THE CONSTELLATION SATURDAY, AND A FELLOW PASSENGER (ALSO A CUNARDER) SAW THE PHOTOS OF THIS AND SAID THE 2ND SMALLER TV WAS THE "NORM" IN ALL "OTHER" CATEGORY STATEROOMS.
I DON'T KNOW THE TECHNICAL TERMS FOR THESE, ALL I CAN TELL YOU IS THEY ARE THE STANDARD "YELLOW" "RED" AUDIO/VIDEO PLUG IN OPENINGS. I HAVE A SONY HANDY CAM, AND THEY WERE JUST FINE. HOPE THIS HELPS...HAVE A GREAT TIME.D
I'm not aware of having asked this before, possibly someone else.
I did have one the smaller TVs in my cabin last time. The problem is of course that as your "extra" tv may have been taken from anywhere, it may not have been one used in the other cabins. I hope of course it is representative!
I will know in a week for sure anyway and the weight of an extra lead is not going to put my luggage into excess but I do try to keep what I carry down to a minimum, especialy with the amount of clothes Cunard travel necesitates.
JON,
YOU MISUNDERSTOOD, WHEN I SAID I TRIED TO ANSWER YOU SO MANY TIMES. THE ISSUE WAS "MY" STUPIDITY, NOT BEING LOGGED IN WHEN WRITING TO YOU. WELL A LEAST I GOT THROUGH.
WISH I COULD SHARE THE PICTURE WITH YOU. IT WAS A JOKE...I CAME IN TO GET READY FOR A SAIL-AWAY PARTY (IN MY ROOM) AND SAW WHAT I CAN ONLY COMPARE TO WHAT I WOULD ASSUME AN X-RATED STUDIO WOULD LOOK LIKE. IE: BIG TV, LITTLE TV, AND A CAMERA POINTING AT THE BED! IT IS FUNNY NOW, BUT IT'S THINGS LIKE THIS, THAT GIVE THE U.S. A BAD REP.....(TOO SILLY TO FRET OVER, AND I HOPE YOU KNOW I'M JUST KIDDING) D
It would, of course, be a good talking point to getting a party going! Anyway freedom of the media is built into the constitution so who could say anything against that.
The TV I had in a Caronia Cabin was relatively small, but DID have the two standard A/V jacks (one for Audio, one for Video) that you could use (input only) to review video from your camcorder.
Crossing was AWESOME :-) Really, weather was good, waves/swells were not a problem (I dreaded possible seasickness, but all went well). Food and service fabulous! Lots to do and choose from. We all met the Captain and several officers. Hats off to Cunard!
The TVs did have phono composite inputs for camcorders.
The TVs are NTSC standard and will only accept 50Hz scan rate so as my camcorder is British, it would not show a picture. American camcorders should work fine.
