Queen Victoria
Does anyone know of any site that has construction photos of the new Queen Victoria, it was intersting to watch the QM2 being built over the internet, and a highlight of our maiden voyage trip was to be able to meet and talk to Stephen Payne, especialy after seeing him in so many photos, while the ship was under construction

Re: Queen Victoria
For some limited info on the Cunardival Victoriaspiritdam:
http://www.fincantieri.com/ then Naval products cruise ships cunard Hull 6078 Nothing too great as far as info - nothing like QM2 |
Re: Queen Victoria
Thulewx,
Yeah - I went to the Fincantieri site and I agree that it's somewhat limited info. Also, the site is submerged in Flash intro etc and it takes ages for the 'play' to finish before you can get on with looking around. There's no 'Skip Intro' button :o( But - how come there is muted interest in the new 'Queen'? This time in QM2's build everybody was going rabid with anticipation. Ok, QV is not the biggest, tallest etc etc but it's supposed to be a major addition to the Cunard fleet. Maybe somebody at Cunard needs to release some of the powder......? (As for searching the internet using the words 'Queen Victoria ship cunard' you also find virtually nothing you don't already know) Pete |
Re: Re: Queen Victoria
I think it's still too early. I 'm not certain but I don't think the hull has been laid yet. Maybe closer to 2005 things will pick up.

Re: Re: Re: Queen Victoria
I read an article that they have revised the Queen Victoria again, it will be bigger than the original 85000 gross tonnage and I think, (I dont recall the website) completely redesigned.
It is my opinion they will build to the standards required as a transatlantic liner then she can go anywhere Errol |
Re: Re: Re: Re: Queen Victoria
I hope they do, as with the QE2 likely to only be able to be in service until 2010 due to the SOLAS regualatiosn they will need a good ship to do the world cruises. the QM2 is probably too large to do that - financially and also to go through the Panama canal?

Re: Queen Victoria
I haven’t seen any artist impressions published by Cunard, but on my site I have several concept renditions of a possible Queen Victoria based on the Vista class.
Here is the link: http://www.onnoheesbeen.com/Vista03.html |
Re: Queen Victoria
Knowing how Carnival Corp likes to order sister ships among all its brands, I think you will eventually see a Queen Anne (sister ship to Queen Victoria) and a QE3 (sister ship to the QM2). With a four ship fleet, Cunard could offer worldwide itineraries on the QV and QA, Atlantic crossings on the QM2, and possibly position the QE3 in Los Angeles for Hawaii and Pacific cruises. Any thoughts?

Re: Queen Victoria
Actually if I do recall I believe Mr. Arison said that they wouldn't do another QM2 class ship... too expensive. However, he did say that if it proved popular enough they'd do another transatlantic liner. :-)
