My husband and I just returned from a crossing on the QE2 where the QM2 awaited us in NYC for the tandem crossing back to Southampton. What an adventure it was!
If there were any Rough Riders on that trip, they got their wish for severe weather. The majority of us would have preferred smoother sailing. During an interview, Captain Ian McNight told us that on 4/22 and 4/23, we had gale winds of nine and ten respectively on the Beaufort Scale, which goes to eleven.
My partner and I were also passengers on the QE2 Westbound Transatlantic from Southampton to NYC on 19 April - what about that weather!!! Our friends and families cannot believe our tales, but we luckily have the video evidence to prove it!
We loved QE2, despite the weather, and already looking to book a cruise on her for next year (sadly, of course, not Transatlantic!)
