Default Question for Capt. Wright

Hi Capt.

I was just recently on the Queen Mary 2 for the April 16th-22nd voyage and love it a lot and want to return to the ship for a transatlantic crossing. My question is when will the weather will be the warmest to travel the north atlantic?

Hello Dennis
The most likely times for warmer weather in the North Atlantic is July and August. For the most part with East bound crossings the prevailing winds are following and therefore probably less relative wind over the decks [with no wind the ship is making approx 25knots of wind herself with the speed she is travelling] and therefore perhaps a little warmer. The westbound crossings have the advantage of 25hour days with the clock changes. Swings and roundabouts Dennis!
All the best and hope to see you on one of the crossings East or Westbound!
All the best
Captain Wright

Lexxity
I actually go on leave on the 3rd Aug and return on Oct 16th. Sorry I'll miss you but am sure you will enjoy being back on board again.

For Olga
The Mediterranean season is really from May to Oct. Much hotter of course in the mid Summer months. Personally I prefer the early part around June after the Northern European winter. Thats just my opinion Olga. We are presently westbound to NY and the seas are flat calm with not a breath of wind, clear blue skies and just a hint of movement from a low ocean swell just to make you feel you are at sea!!

Sincerely
Captain Paul Wright

Dear Captain Wright,
What part of the U.K. are you originally from? My family and I hope to meet you on the November 6th sailing out of New York. The QM2 sounds a stunning ship and we are so looking forward to exploring this wonderful vessel.
Kindest regards,
James Sheen.

Captain, this means that you will be on the Royal Mediterranean cruise from October 17th - 31st. With my husband immigrating to Canada via the original Queen Mary, as a wee boy, we are very much looking forward to this voyage where we will also be celebrating his birthday. Needless to say, we're counting the days!
Regards,
Kathy

Hello Roman
Yes, of course I remember you. I think you spent more time at the viewing window than I spent on the Bridge!! You deserved to blow the whistle.
Best regards

Hello Captain,
Thank's for your message! Yes that's right :-). Are you now at home or at sea? Maybe we will be next year on the QM2 or we stay again in Cornwall.
I love this Country!

Dear Captain Wright,
My family was on the June 11, 2004 Caribbean sailing with you at the helm. You handled some difficult circumstances very well on that trip. You also let my 7-year old daughter blow the horn along with our traveling companions whose daughter celebrated her birthday on that trip.

We wanted you to know how memorable you made our vacation. My daughter, Tara, still brags about that day. She will never forget you and your kindness. We are scheduled to sail on the QE2 on December 21, 2004 for Christmas and her birthday is on Boxing Day. I do not need to tell you that she has some very high hopes for her birthday since her royal treatment on the QM2 as well as the royal treatment you gave to our friend's daughter. We can only hope that the captain of the QE2 will be as gracious and thoughtful as you are.

Thank you again for the memories of a lifetime and we wish you happy holidays and smooth sailing! We look froward to sailing with you again in the near future.

Sincerely,
Linda

Dear Captain Paul Wright,

We have you to thank.

Our first ever voyage on a liner was QE2 from Cape Town to Southampton in April 2002.

On that voyage we became hooked on Cunard and have since then made two more voyages (QE2 transatlantic Jun 03 and QM2 maiden Jan 04).

Our next voyage is booked for QE2 Apr 05.

You made our first trip on QE2 so wonderful - how could we not be hooked!!!!

Happy sailings on QM2.

P&K

Ps. Kell made a great diary/scrap/momento book which you signed......... :o))))))

Default A new Question for Capt. Wright

Good Evening, Captain Wright!

I have a Question. Is it true that in the Golf of Biscaya the sea is often very rough?Because we will be on the QE2 for the 25.8.-30.8.2005. I know that on the QE2 isn't a Bridge viewing window but are there Bridge visits possible? I was so interested at the viewing window on the QM2 because i want be a Captain when I'm older. I know that it's very hard to become a Captain but I'm ambitious and I will give my best. I'm very interested to work at the Hapag-Lloyd Container Line in Hamburg.
I wish you a merry Christmas and a healthy New Year!
I hope to see you!
Greetings from Austria
Roman

Dear Capt. Wright.

I am taking my parents on the 1.22.05 caribbean cruise for their 40th aniversery. This will be their first cruise and they are truly looking forward to experiencing all the QM2 has to offer. Is it possible to arrange bridge tours in advance and if so who should I contact. I understant that most ships have banned these tours for security reasons.

Regards,

Howard Bell

Default Question for Capt. Wright

Capt. Wright...
I heard some disconcerting news that you'll be leaving Cunard Line and transferring over to Princess. If so, I hope this is a move that you've requested. Is there any information you can share regarding this?

I sailed with you on the transatlantic journey that had the QE2 in mid-Atlantic when 9/11/01 occurred. You and your crew showed the utmost professionalism for the remainder of that journey including the diversion to Boston.
