Default Maiden aniversary

Hi all, Today (Monday to the day not the date, as it was the 12 January) is the first aniversary of the Maiden voyage from Southampton to Fort Lauderdale. Just like to hear from any Maiden voyage passengers and go over a few very special memories...and any maiden voyage photos would be a huge bonus. We took hours of video at Southampton and leaving. I think we were the last on deck that night...We have just watched the videos, with a glass of champagne of course...

Hi Noele &Carol:
Truly hard to believe it has been a year since we all boarded with such anticipation. Have you been aboard since? We were disappointed with Carnival's changes to Cunard and have since moved on to Sea Dream Yacht Club. A marvelous experience but no transatlantics except a few positioning cruises. Hope QM2 settles down as we have family in the UK and have always enjoyed QE2 prior to Carnival. Even with lackluster food and service, the Maiden Voyage is truly an unforgettable experience and we are glad to have had the opportunity to be aboard. I doubt any other ship, including Queen Victoria, will be able to duplicate what we experienced in each port of call. Thanks for bringing up the anniversary and prompting the memories.
Happy Sails
Jim & Lois Avery
PS: I seem to have been dropped by Cunardival after posting a bad review on another site. Have not received one piece of mail from Cunard or World Club since the Maiden Voyage. Platinum member since the 1970's. I guess they hold a grudge. JA.

It's a funny way to do business, we have cruised on QE2 and QM2 and never hear anything from them. We are still waiting for our pins...and have given up asking for them. We are probably personably responsible for recomendations of thousands of cruise nights on Cunard. I said it about five years ago and i'll say it again...SAVE CUNARD FROM MEDIOCRITY!! ( I hope I spelt it right)

PS Cant wait to go on QM2 again. Happy aniversary....

Dear Noel & Carole,
Sorry i am rather late responding - just noticed your message.
It is indeed difficult to realise a year has passed since we all undertook "The Maiden Voyage".
For those of us privileged to participate, it was truly a "Yoyage of a Lifetime" for anyone who loves ships and the sea. As Jim Avery correctly remarked in his reply, the welcome which we got at all the Ports both sides of the Atlantic will , for sure, remain in our memories for life.
The Ship is indeed beautiful, and a marvel of marine engineering. However, i hope that the service in the Britannia Restaurant has improved from what we experienced. We spent more time waiting than eating.!!
Best Wishes to both of you.

Hi Brian, We can't wait for our next trip on QM2, but at the rate we are going at the moment it will be 2054..., but we read and post messages on here to keep the dream alive. We will never forget Las Palmas. We even suggested a ten year aniversary cruise as an idea for all who were on board that first trip. It is a beautiful ship, and i have heard that the Brittania is working fine. Thanks for the reply.
