Take out a second mortgage for your drinks, you just might have enough.

Not at all, drinks are dirt cheap, especially if you are coming from the UK or Euro zone. I drank manily cosmos, appletinis, and santa margharita (SP) white wine. You can expect to pay $3-$6 for a cocktail with $3.75 being about the average. Wine is anywhere from $3-$8/glass depending on what it is your drinking. A good bottle of wine will set you back about $20 which is an excellent price in my view! The only reason you'd need a mortgage is because the bars and club are such convial places you'll end up spending loads of time in them with your new found friends! I would also recommend the daily soda card at $3/person/day, well worth it, especially on warm water cruises'.
Hope that helps!

Oh, beer is about $2.75 a pint. bargain

Champagne:

Dom Perignon 1990 $120
Veuve Clicquot, La Grande Dame 1995 $115
Piper-Heidsieck NV $35
Moet et Chandon NV $45
Perrier-Jouet NV $37

These are just from the normal bar list. The Veuve Clicquot Champagne bar has a much greater selection.

Cocktails $4.25-$4.75
Martinis $4.75
Gin, Rum, Vodka, Tequila, etc. $3.95 - $4.50
Blended whisky $3.95 -
Malt whisky $5 - $10
Draught beer $3.50
Wines $4.50 - $7.00
Sir Samuel's has a much wider selection by the glass.

Regards, Colin.

If you don't like your room at the Waldorf, ask for a change, and they invariably upscale it substantially. It's a beautiful, luxurious place..

Looks like lexxityn was posting whilst I was digging out the bar list from our April crossing.

Maybe the prices are different on each cruise (wouldn't surprise me), or maybe they're different in each bar (less likley, but far from impossible). Either way, they give you a ballpark figure to work with.

Thanks everyone for the above info its really helpfull. i thought that the drinks would be alot more expensive, and the champagne seems really well priced. We are from the UK so this might be why i was expecting it to be more costly.
Has anyone else tried complaining about there hotel room for an upgrade? i htink i might be a little to shy for this though.
thanks for all the help

How does one go about getting a soda card? Must one go to the purser each day or are they available in the bars and lounges?

you buy you soda card at the bar. here are the prices from a G32 menu - do not ask how we have it.

veuve cliquot brut N/V - $9.00/glass
Veuve cliquot Vintage reserve 1996 - $12.00/glass

Signature spirits
QM2 Vodka - $4.50
QM2 Gin - $4.50
QM2 Scotch - $4.50

Cocktails $4.25 - $4.50
Daiquries & Coladas $4.75
Speciality cocktails eg B52 - $4.75
Martinis -$4.75
Vodkas 1.5floz (us measures so lots!) - S4.25
Malts - $5.00 - $10 depending on blend and age
Beer - $3.50/pint

There is also a 15% gratuity added, but it is still laughably cheap.

G32 is also more expensive than other bars, but not by much!
Don't know why I didn't think of the menu before - sorry.

Cigs (if you smoke) - all brands $3.00 per pack (yes I know!)

cheers
lexx

I have an "aunt" ie friend of my mums from South Shields and friends in Sealand nr Gateshead! Top part of the world! Going to book this trip tomorrow, looks like we'll have to cancel our transatlantic though, DH has college commitments so we'll have longer to wait, but more to look forward too! Can't wait! E-mail me and we'll be excited together!

My cruise is in Feb 19-26 2005. I live in Marietta, Georgia, USA.
Compared to here those prices are very high.

However, you expect to get ripped off on vacation (holiday to you).

Thanks for the information though.

We're sailing on QM2 Feb. 26. I'm wondering if you can buy liquor in a store on board for use in your cabin. Some lines won't allow that and also won't let you bring it aboard. What is you experience on the QM2?

You can't buy a bottle of liquor onboard and take it to your room.

I tried to buy a bottle that I wanted to take off the ship and they said they would only do this on the last day.

Best take a bottle from shore if you want.

Anybody know if QE2 is now using Sterling as onboard currency or is it still Dollars?

Thanks.
