Default Singles dinner seating

I am set to on the 12th as a solo. Are there any tables set aside for singles?
If so, is anyone interested?

In Britannia most tables are for larger groups, although there are a good number of tables for two, although these will probably already all be taken.

Princess and Queens Grill will have more smaller tables, although sharing can happen there too if you wish.

I have never had any problems on larger tables, it is a good way to meet people.

I travel solo, but always request a table for at least 8, prefer 10.
This way you know you will have conversation at dinner, I work my way round the table, so no one get "stuck" with me (or other way around) every night.

At breakfast and lunch , I always ask to be seated "at a large table" that way I meet people . Have I ever had trouble with other passengers, yes , but that is their problem not mine, I am prepared to smile and be friendly with everyone.

On two differnt cruises with two different line, both with less than 400 passengers I did find myself "refused". and ended up sitting at a table for one. Never cruised with either line again. Reallised I had made a poor choice, too few passengers, many acted as though the ship was their private domain, and many were from rather "specialised clubs" . I was regarded as interloper.

Research the LIFESTYLE of the ship,(do not choose dressy if you prefer casual,or a party ship if you want a very quiet cruise) the number of passengers, and if possible the activities you will wish to do.

Regardless have a wonderful cruise.

I have travelled as a single passenger several times in the past. Generally single travellers who ask to sit on larger tables are grouped with other single travellers, so I would recommend sitting on a table for 8, there are bound to be people that you get along with. Often it has been dinner table companionship that has made a good trip into a really memorable one.

Mind you one time I was seated on a table with 4 elderly spinsters (on QE2) who made no effort whatsoever to interreact so I asked to be moved (I was only 36 at the time). The restaurant staff bent over backwards to help and offered to make a special meal of my choice which was really nice.

Unfortunately on the "new" table one particular member persisted in steering the conversation into areas of homophobia night after night which made me feel uncomfortable. It turned out that he was an employee of Cunard, and I mentioned this to one of the officers and he was removed from the table never to be seen again ! The atmosphere was fine after that !

Second time on QM2 as a solo traveler. I specifically requested a large table and put in the comments that I would like to be seated at a table of singles. Both times I was seated at a table of four! First time I was with a couple and a young german man with limited English. Second time a couple from Brazil (both with limited English but great fun) and the fourth person never showed up the whole cruise.

I kept my table both times because i enjoyed my tablemates company, but it just goes to show you that tey will place you wherever they want with seemingly little regard for your request. You always have the option to change your table.

Have a wonderful time - I thoroughly enjoyed both trips.

Yes, I was on the December crossing of QE2 and had requested to be on a table for six and instead was assigned to a table with just two others on it. Next time around I would be sure to have my initial request honored.
