Default Any special benefits for doing transatlantic rountrips?

Hi everyone...

Planning a round-trip transatlantic crossing in (quite) a few years. Yes, I know, rather strange, but I still like planning ahead.

Anyway... I was wondering if there were any advantages and/or discounts for doing roundtrip rather than just one way... I have noticed that the prices per person for a P1 Roundtrip (as designated on the Cunard site, EBS fares) are around $7,200, while the same EBS fares for two separate transatlantic crossings would total around $10,000.

Thanks all :-)
John

if you do a roundtrip crossing you will receive a 50% discount on the return trip. th eonly stipulation is that you must occupy the same cabin in both directions. i did this in october and november in princess grill. its great getting off the ship and knowing you have another voyage to look forward to.

Hi Wripro.

We're doing back-to-back crossings in July '05. I just have a quick question. When you reach the first destination, do you have to disembark or can you stay on board? We had hoped we could stay on board and perhaps do some laundry.

hey travlntxn,

i think your situation is different from mine since i had two weeks between my crossings which i spent mostly in paris. since you are just staying on and returning immediately i would be willing to bet they will let you remain on board. i would say the best thing to do is have your travel agent contact cunard and ask them or better yet request that you be allowed to stay on. that said, it might be nice to get off for a couple of hours and walk around southampton. theres a nice maritime museum if you like that sort of thing. anyway, enjoy!!!!!

I am fairly sure you can stay onboard, when we joind a cruise in southampton there were people who had done the transatlantic and were continuing on round the med and they caould stay onboard.

Thanks to both! It sure would be nice to have the laundry to ourselves for an hour or two! <g>

I'm feeling a bit sick reading this. I've just booked a round trip, with a month in between the return part, with a local travel agent and certainly did not get any deal ...
The trip isn't until May 28 ... (Southampton to NYC) .... do you think I've gotten ripped off?
Should I cancel with my current agent and call Cunard directly??

May 28th.... you are already within your 120 day cancellation period so you can not switch bookings. Call Cunard and see what they say then call your travel agent. The above poster's trip is back to back, maybe that makes a difference.

cnmiranda

i think there are only certain crossings to which this discount applies. i would call cunard and see if yours qualifies. if so i would insist on the discount. if not, then your TA did not mess up.
