Default Cunard-QM2 Tranatlantic food ok?

I don't see many message about opinions on the roomservice, mid-night buffets and regular dinners on the QM2.

Anyone able to comment?

Anything particularly good to recommend or avoid ?

Hows the food on the places that you don't have to pay extra for?
Traveling Myay 05! Transatlantic

Thanks
Plut

Hi....
room service for breakfeast was wonderful, all the food was great... not one complaint.... I really do not understand people who complain about food on the QM2... it is all very good and way too much.... available 24 hours a day....
I did not pay the extra $30 charge to eat in the special Restaurant... just did not feel I needed anything better than what was being served in the diningrooom.
Do not think ,,, that transatlantic food would be different... than the cruise I took...
any other questions...Hanne

On the QE2 in May of 2003 the midnight buffet was unbelievable, maybe still is. They had Chef's carving different meats, making specialty dishes; anything and everything else was available and way too much of it. A large variety of desserts were available and so on. It was great. As compared to the QM2 last June, there was only a self service cafeteria type of thing set up around midnight, hot dogs were available, and very little else and it was not a midnight buffet nor called one as on the QE2. But the room service was excellent on both and took the place of the midnight buffet on the QM2 if we were "that" hungry at that time of night. No complaints, just answering your question.

I agree with Hanne.... the todd english was nice but disappointing if you compare it to the food and service compare to the restaurant food in the britannia restaurant. If we travelled again on the QM I wouldnt bother with it. The service in the restaurants is supurb.,

I'm also doing transatlantic on May 4. Which crossing are you on? My first experience with Cunard although I've done other cruises with various companies. I've been monitering the comments by others. I plan on going with an open mind and will make my own decision on service, food , etc. To each his own and what I like doesn't necessarily mean you will, etc., etc., etc.

Correction, I'm on the May 28th crossing - Southampton-NYC

Bummer about the midnight buffet. I often skip dinner and find myself hungry around 10-12.

I understood that the room service menu was quite limited, correct?

Yes it's limited, but when we were on board they had a variety of sandwiches and salads which hit the spot at that time of night. They were not skimpy at all and the service was very quick.
